And for what it's worth I agree with you, particularly that you've left Barry out - the very epitome of our negativity in central areas. But I still believe we'd be crying out for a little more positivity with that short term stop gap midfield. I guess we'll just have to hope MacDonald has what it takes to fill the void.

It was a dull game but a win is a win as they say. The big problem I have with today was the forwards. You have both of Adebayor and Tevez wanting to drop back and get the ball. We cant do that against teams like Pompey who tried to pack there midfield you dont mind 1 dropping back from time to time but when both want to do it it overcrowds the midfield and we tend to pass the ball side to side. Yes we have good midfielders who can break into the box quickly but if nobody is up there it is harder for this to happen.

Didn't think we attacked very well in any of those games bar Scunthorpe & last 20 mins at Wolves but we weren't useless like today. Bearing in mind the opposition, the only performance I can think of that was as bad is v Forest in the FA Cup. Portsmouth are about the only team in the league we would have beaten today & they should have been 2 up before we scored. We were fucking awful in every department.

Let's hope it was just a hangover.
