The worst thing about farcical officiating

I agree with everybody, the first goal was offside no doubt, however no one is talking about the second goal, was that offside, watch the highlights in slow motion, Rashford wanders offside twice before the ball is crossed, just check on the official city website, slow it down its questionable ???, I don't think it has been questioned.
Sadly, I think Rashford was *just* onside for that goal. I still reckon we don’t concede that without the unjust farce of the first (which broke our rhythm, altered our collective mental state, and swung momentum completely to United, especially after they realised they got the referee to change the decisions).

Buy from an isolated fairness point of view, his second was good.

All I'm hearing was var couldn't get involved because it was a subjective decision and not a straight forward offside
What people don't realise is the first decision was offside not a goal. So when they say the on field decision should stay then its offside.
For me the ref changed the decision knowing var couldn't get involved
I bet var told atwell they can't get involved :)

I understand the point Gallagher makes to justify why VAR didn't get involved, but I am absolutely certain they have got involved with subjective offside decisions in the past.

The reason this is bizarre is that the clarification to the rules was never intended to cover a player running 30 yards within inches of the ball. It was because you commonly get goals scored in the box with multiple players about, and often one will try and play the ball but miss, or will be standing close to the keeper's eyeline. I am certain that we've seen refs go to monitors to look at whether an offside player was involved in play when the ball has been crossed into a crowded box.

A few ? seasons ago linos were told to keep their flag down and let var decide , you were and are still getting linos putting up their flag and refs blowing up for offside ,its the inconsistency that annoys me

Great Post and for me highlighting the problem perfectly.....if Only Atwell was instructed to go and check for distractions caused by Rashford there might well have been a different outcome, having said that you still need to have him agree that there are distractions and who would bet on that !!

It's a farcical state of affairs when you worry more about the upcoming officiating than the opponents. And these cunts are never held to account. Shameful.
Exactly mate..
I said to her indoors that the only way we drop points against that shower of shit is if the ref or var fuck us over.
As soon as I knew it was Twatwell I feared the worse..moreso when I found out var was going to be Oliver..
City really should kick up a huge stink about the way Twatwell referees us...pointing out how many fouls the opposition get away with without getting cards.
He really isn't a decent referee...he's just a fucking shithouse of a man

Watch the short highlights, at 1 minute 45 seconds, on the second goal Rashford is offside, 1 second later he scores, for me he was in an offside position

It would be interesting what others think, my opinion is he was offside at 1 minute 45 seconds, stop the play on the short highlights ???

The best thing about it was that now we’ll be really really fucking angry. It’s just the re motivation we needed.
Correct -It’s not exactly a new thing to our Boys to be shafted by some shite decision and we’ve usually kicked on afterwards in recent years
