If you could sell Yaya and buy Thaigo with the money, would you? I would without hesitation tbh

Was just thinking this myself (if that Russian/Ukranian club were still interested) but Yaya is a beast and unplayable when in the mood.
I don't think there is another in the world like him, so probably not, unless we could get close to £30m for him.

I wouldn't either. Our midfield would be seriously lightweight if we did that. Personally I think Thiago is too lightweight for a prem central midfielder as it is, nevermind replacing your biggest, most powerful midfielder and adding a puny kid to a midfield of Silva and Navas!

The way Thiago and Isco have linked up for the U21's I think this is a no brainer at the price and that we should go for the two of them.

I don't get what is so special about what Thiago has done, that can't be reproduced by the players we already have. Our midfielders do that kind of stuff all the time.

Isco keeps coming up with potentially game changing moments & is obviously a special player. Thiago only occasionally does the same, is neat & tidy but has been caught in possession in his own half several times in each game, as he has on plenty of occasions for Barca.

Obviously he's a talented player, but so are all of our midfield players, even the ones who have struggled & get shit.

I have no idea where we would play Thiago without leaving out a better player or cocking up the balance of the team.

I think the first bit of that might be debatable (although I agree myself) but the second certainly isn't

I would love him here as I said think he and isco could be our own Xavi and Iniesta, but it will be tough to convince him that here is the best place for him to develop his game, this team would be amazing and dominate for years.
Hart
Zabaleta Kompany Nastastic Clichy
Fernandinho
Yaya Thiago
Silva Isco
Aguero
Plus we have Rodwell the long term successor to Yaya in my opinion. But there is no chance I would sell Yaya.

For me, Yaya gives me a headache whenever I try and come up with a potential formation. I don't trust him to play in a midfield 2 anymore and I don't think he offers enough consistently to be the attacking one in a midfield 3. I'd much rather see Thiago and Fernandinho pressing and defending together in a two, or with Isco, Silva or Nasri used as the third midfielder instead. Yaya offers something noone else does, but for the 90% of the game when he isn't surging forward devestatingly, he isn't offering nearly enough for me

That is restricting Fernandinho, a better player than Thiago, who has pace, dribbling skills, great passing & a great shot, to sitting in front of the defence doing a defensive Barry/DeJong type role, so that we can shoehorn Thiago into the team.

Call me crazy or what ever but as much as I would love to sign Thiago I think aslong as Rodwell can keep fit he will be as good as Thiago in the CDM position and he's English, he has pace and power and knows where the net is!

Thiago would be a phenomenal buy. Granted, we can't buy everyone, but with our Spanish and general Spanish speaking influence I think it would be a greater for both him, and us. Barry's legs are all but gone (for a full season)- Garcia isn't good enough- yaya has a few years left in him, but is hardly a young player, and didn't have the best of seasons last year. It would be a perfect time to try and get thiago. One big window would save looking for players next summer.
I believe rodwell has the ability to come good- but will he ever be injury free?
If thiago is available it would be silly to not go for him- unless, of course, our management has the upmost confidence in the other players I mentioned.

sorry has something happened to Gareth Barry since the end of the season?

Nope. Barry, across the course of the 4 seasons he has been here has been a fantastic buy. In the title winning season he was quality almost all season. Last year, he was largely consistent, but had some really really poor games. Unfortunately, for him, he has been shown up in almost every Champions League game we have played.

I really like, and rate Barry, but the above, added to the fact he is 32 and getting slower I think it is fair to say he doesn't have the legs for a full season for a team who are aiming to win the league, and, in fact, all in front of them.

If you disagree, fine. As I said, I have been a huge Barry fan, and has been a great buy, but I think if there is a possibility to get Thiago in, you do it.
