Things that blew your mind the first time you saw them

Turn one at Daytona Nascar, sight and sound has no equal, Joey Dunlop flat out down Bray Hill, hump back whale sounding. The war graves in europe. The after-math of Mt. Saint Helens. In no order

Always loved Roman and Greek history and this was on my bucket list, which I managed to do a few years ago, brought a tear to my eye if I’m honest I can feel the history been stood there, I had to explain it to my wife and how it worked back in the day. The other thing on the same trip was the Vatican, the inside of the actual huge chapel itself was unreal. The Cistine chapel I felt underwhelming but maybe that’s because of the amount of tourists at the time it felt rushed.
When your stood inside the Colosseum and to think 400000 died in there BM it’s unbelievable

Chieftain MBT on my first day Trade training, Bordon. Training to be an A mech back in 82.
Seeing Skylab from Dartmoor on an Orienteering exercise.
The second goal Aguero scored on his debut.
The Stranglers Raven tour at the Apollo Manchester.
Oh yeah and 10 mark alley Hamburg.

I was going to say — a humpback whale.

Also — Saturn through a telescope.

The Na Pali coast of Kauai in Hawaii.

And the Patti Maguire (now Jimmy Connors’ wife of many decades) issue of Playboy in the late 70s which I found under my parents’ bed. Which my father later claimed he bought because there was an interview with Jimmy Carter in it.

Just got back from Kodiak, too busy for taking pictures but had multiple whales around us for several days of fishing

I was in a cove off of Admiralty Island at sunset (so like 10:30 pm) in a small boat and it was so quiet you could hear the song without a hydrophone, and then a few gulls start gathering over the water and the humpback comes up and out (bubble net feeding). It was a religious experience. They are amazing.
