"Obsessed with the past" refers to people you go on about the wars all the time or always have conversations relating to how things used to be or what they used to do. Also applies to the attitudes of a large proportion of Rags and Dippers and sport media.
Personally, I like to live in the present and look forward to the future rather than dwell on what I used to do or have regrets about things that happened in the past that I can't change.
I do enjoy history in terms of learning about past events and exploring historical landmarks.
