To be fair even the Arsenal fans don't think this.Young said:I really doubt the Scousers think that... oh wait...argyle said:city91 said:I'm not disputing that we couldn't of had a better transfer window as we clearly could have but it wasn't exactly the disaster a lot of people on here are making it out to be. Last season we had a title winning squad and we have improved that and if we have a poor season this year it won't be because we failed to sign Hazard or RVP it will be because Mancini will have fucked up plain and simple. We still have the best team in the league.
Just out of curiosity if we had signed RVP and Hazard would you still think that we could of had a better transfer window because we didn't sign Messi and Ronaldo?
All fans of the top 4 teams believe this.
Buying players on the last day is always poor unless you are buying a promising youngster, you don't plan to use right away. This window was not a good one and really wasted an opportunity to extend the gap in the league and catch the top 3 in Europe. From a business point of view it was even worse than from a footballing point of view.
Garcia was probably around 4th or 5th choice and means you are STILL going to have to buy a world class deep lying playmaker next year. The problem with that is, you will then have Garcia, Rodwell, Barry, Toure and new midfielder(plus youngsters) that's too much and means you are going to have to let one of Barry or Garcia go,
The same applies for Sinclair. Next year you are still in need of a world class winger, so will splash out on one. The problem is this leaves you with Silva, Nasri, Sinclair, Milner and new winger. One of those guys is likely to be let go.
Garca vs De Jong-too early to say. Garcia needs time to settle in, before he can be judged
Nastasic>Savic-just from watching Nastasic play a couple of times you can see he is better than Savic and a real prospect. He may even take Lescott's place by the end of the season.
Rodwell>Hargreaves-Rodwell's injury record is a concern, but he has bags of potential and all the makings of a fantastic midfelder. Can even be converted into a centre back.
Johnson>Sinclair-Adam Johnson is better than Sinclair though. This is made worse by Sinclair needing time to settle in. So you are weaker out wide
At the same time your rivals have all strengthened both their first team and their squad in general. Put a gun to my head and say you are favourites due to having the best first 11 (even if others have a stronger squad outside that). The gap is not big, but think Mancini is a very good manager and will pull through. However, luck can play a huge part. An injury to Toure or Kompany for a long period and it could ruin your season.
