You can laugh about it, but ultimately it is the truth. Just, because it is very hard to compare players in different positions does not mean it is impossible.
I repeat, who here questions whether Toure is better than Green as a player? Who here if I said it is impossible to compare whether Silva is better than Clyne would agree with me? So we can all agree that when there is a gap even players in different positions can be compared and everyone does so. When the gap is small then it is becomes increasingly difficult to compare the two. It is the same for comparing players across different eras.
At the end of the day RVP is arguably the best striker in the world. Hart is not arguably the best keeper in the world. RVP is without doubt World Class. Hart is not without doubt world class. If you were putting together a 23 players from Earth to face Mars, then RVP would probably be in squad for most people. Hart would not.
I have agreed when the comparison is between the likes of Toure and RVP then the gap is so small that it is hard to compare and the difference in positions makes it near impossible.
