Talking of Villa Park, that's just reminded me of something else from the 70s/early 80s.

Some games, particularly cup games you would get massive allocations. The rule was 25% of capacity for a long time in the FA Cup, so we got 12,000-14,000 for some games.

Often this allocation would be over a couple of stands, so one stand would start waving with both hands at the other, who would do it back. so you'd have 12,000 Blues waving to each other.

this is the first time I've remembered this in decades. Can someone confirm I'm not going mad please?

You are not going mad, it also occurred if there were blues in the "home sections" at some away grounds - the less troublesome ones usually.

By God it did.

Places like Ewood where a big group would gather on the home terraces.

I remember us having a big group in every section of the ground at Ewood Park once, early 80s

All this reminds me so much of the OLD Kippax....those definately were the days!!!

"I'm Dreaming of a blue Wembley, just like the ones I used to know"

"You're going home in a ****ing ambulance"

Oh and "Spit the dog, spit the dog, spit the dog"

Marvelous!

Spit the dog; superb!

Anyone know where that originated from (obviously I know Spit the Dog from Bob Carolgees & Tiswas but why on earth did we sing it)?

Fans have always nicked tunes from other teams, I remember singing this (if I can remember the words) to the tune of Blaydon Races in the 60's

Oh me lads, you should have seen us coming
Passed the teams, in the league just when they were winning
All the lads and lasses, smiles upon their faces
Walking down Maine road
To see Joe Mercers aces

the rags had their version of it too

Time flies by when you're a fan of Man City
As you ride on the footplate down to Wem-ber-lee
Under bridges, over bridges
Down to Wembley Ssation
Riding through the countryside
To see the boys in blue and white

"Rangers", "Celtic", "Rangers", "Celtic"
"Swap shap", "Tiswas", "Swap shop", "Tiswas"
"Stockport Blues, we are here, oh-oh, shag your women and drink your beer"
"Helen is a big fat football hooligan"
"Helen helen ring your bell"
