Your position makes no sense. Surely if Barcelona and united are going down the marquee route, that's even more reason to be excited about the CFA, as it will further differentiate us from them, not, as you suggest, make us morph into them.mrtwiceaseason said:The post was written in a temper and I agree not well punctuated .but except criticism. Still feel the same things tho.what dramatic improvement do people see coming from the new facilities ? Was thinking about a team coming through examples of which barca greatest ever rags 92 .but even these 2 now are going down the marquee signing route.just find it strange we are getting excited about city morphing into everything we despise about the ragsPrestwich_Blue said:He did they all topped themselves!whicko said:Try the Samaritans!

Looked like a lot of progress had been made on the terracing for the 3rd tier.
No disagree barca are always held up as the role model .I guess them and the rags just struck lucky and had a good bunch come through together. What makes you think nice facilities will help us bring through better players ? Isn't it down to better scouting ie Southampton and better coaching ?gordondaviesmoustache said:Your position makes no sense. The sponsorship is a necessary evil, I'm afraid, but at least it's being put to productive use.

Of course if you want the best you pay for it with more sponsorship but when the rags get a noodle sponser we criticise but we put a sign on a bridge and have a wankathon

i found that teams had a 'period' of talented youngsters in their history coming through the ranks and then a 'period' of nothing but purchases from other clubs. Seems to be a cycle for it. Everyone is talking about the Southampton Academy, but will they in 10 years ... who knows?
Think the plan is with these facilities is on the Ajax model, to create a sustained line of talent and not the odd 'period' of talent.
Plus, will make us competitive with the clubs that can offer the best development when attracting kids (and their parents). Like or not, the likes of Messi and Ronaldo went to clubs with a pedigree of developing talented players, now City have the facilities, structure and opportunity to attract and develop the next generation of Messi's, Ronaldo's and Edgehill's
