Three more years before we start to dominate...

hate to piss on your parade but a few pitches and pretty buildings mean fuck all. that academy is only as good as the people in charge and looking at whats coming through we're doing a piss poor job at the minute. improve the scouting personnel and coaching and we may have a chance otherwise we will be grooming players for a career at oldham athletic and stockport county.

From time to time we have young lads on the bench. If they are not good enough to be given a chance. Then what are they doing on the bench & collecting a wage? Is this what is going to happen in the future. A great bunch of young lads who are not given a chance cos the likes of old man Maicon come 1st. Its a joke, give these lads a chance. Starting with the Leeds game. Can't do any worse than most of yesterdays players.

Exactly, and these young lads don't just turn up, you have to fight with the Rags, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea... to get them on your books.

Most big clubs have scouts all over the world, so it's not as simple as building loads of pitches and an unlimited pool of talent just sprouts up out of the ground.

Barcelona scout Brazil, Argentina, Africa and all of Spain for the best players. There is lots of competition out there.

I don't think it's coming instead I think it's already here.

FA Cup, League title and Community shield. We may still win the FA Cup this year so whilst I agree the academy is the biggest factor as to why this clubs not going away and the investment continues I do think we as City fans should start to accept we've already arrived and are now seen as a genuine title challenger every season. Make no mistake Fergie knows it. So forget the tick tock we're in it knee deep and up to our necks in the mud flinging of big time football.
Granted we should have competed better this year but they went out and bought RVP we couldn't match that with a Falco or Cavani because our hands were tied instead we got Rodwell and Sinclair on less wages.

Once the academy and new shops, cafes and restaurants etc are in place our income will go through the roof but we have to wait now due to FFPR.

We spent 50 million in the summer. RVP cost 24 million.

Also, do you think that it's just a formality of putting in a bid in for De Rossi, Cavani or Falcao and they just magically accept? Cavani will probably go to Real Madrid, as he has been namedropping them this week, and Chelsea are favourites for Falcao. De Rossi is a god in Rome, and he doesn't want to leave his boyhood club. Also, many of these fantasy bids would have to be dependent on money coming into the club from players leaving, and we've been really successful in achieving that, haven't we?

Exactly, hate to the bearer if bad news but the Arse, Rags, Chelsea, Spurs and even Villa already have excellent youth academy's. Just hope these pretty facilities may just turn the heads of some of the top young talent.

We need new youth coaches FAR more than we need the new facilities. No point having state of the art buildings if the kids are being coached by Lombardo.

This isn't bad news at all, it's known there are good academies (you missed probably the best one of recent years - Southampton)... but we want to be better than those.

United have in recent years produced Cleverley, Welbeck, Evans... uh, not many others. Fair enough, decent players who have saved them money. But would you hold that up as an outstanding example of an academy system like they once could (Giggs, Scholes, etc.)? I wouldn't and we're aiming beyond the level of any British academy to be one that creates the highest quality of youth talent, a constant stream of very high quality footballers - local and foreign.

But I agree with whoever said it, we need to make sure we have the right overseer(s) for the youth system when it moves into the Etihad Campus and also need to ensure the entire club has a philosophy that goes from the 8-year-old lads to the first team. The club seems to have something really special going at the younger levels already, I'm not sure if the same applies at U18 and U21 level though.

There is a patch of land with bull dozers on it at the moment and we should not forget it because it represents the future of our club and the end of being dominated by the red bureaucrats at the FA and UEFA.

Once we become self sustaining both financially and on the pitch with the influx of young talent our new academy will bring we will take over from the rag scumbags, the fact is at the moment we can't because the FFPR are designed to help clubs with the greatest turnovers and that eventually will include us.

We have had a taste of success and it was great but most must have known it was going to be short lived with these new rules coming in to stop us. Our owners will be rubbing their hands at the fact it was so easy and ahead of schedule for us to win the premier league.

Champions leagues are won when you are seeded and end up with an easier draw due to our lack of experience we don't get that yet but given a couple more years it will fall into place and we will start seeing progression.

The club have a plan in place they never intended to spend big this year and knew they would have to let one or two go to clear the decks the result is what it is we have not been able to compete but sometimes you have to take a step back.

All blues have been so patient for so long now so just hang on a bit longer and trust me with our magnificent owner we will only end up dominating the British game for years. Remember fergie is on his last legs and soon these rag fans will be slammed back down to earth with an inexperienced new manager.

Patience is the key it's coming.
Don't think we had to take a step backwards this year. We really needed to do well in the Champions League to push ourselves commercially on an even wider audience with FFP coming in, and as much as I love him I don't think Mancini is the man to take us to the next level of our development.

Some of the comments above are frankly embarrassing.

'its not just a case of building a load of pitches'? Can you really not see the commercial value the Etihad campus will bring to us long term?

I don't even want to debate with clueless people it's getting more raggish on here everyday please take a step back and realise where we have come from and the fact a house built on piss poor foundations will fall down.

Maybe do some research on the sheikh too but then again forget that I'm probably asking a bit too much.

You are so simple kiam. A classic new generation fan brought up playing football manager on the pc. You are presuming so many things without thinking. This is what you want, a dream and tbh embarrassing. I'm in a foul mood after the weekend and posts like this wind me up.
