Thrown out of the stadium today

Hi.

I am the other person who was thrown out with the OP yesterday. Not posted on here for a while.

To the people who seem to think I was responsible. I suppose it it easy to jump to conclusions and lets be fair, we do have our fair share of idiots who cause trouble and they deserve to be banned. However, this is clear case of mistaken identity. Like the OP states, we don't even know each other and we came into the stadium at separate times on Wednesday night. It's a clear case of mistaken identity.

Anyway, I have just e-mailed Danny Wilson and Peter Fletcher politely advising them to check both the CCTV footage of the incident and the turnstile records to see what time we both entered the stadium. That should prove we were not involved. I have also offered to meet the PDA operator in person to see if he/she still thinks it was me.

Hopefully this will resolve the matter before it develops into something more.

Fair play mate, can't do more than that. Hopefully if it wasn't you it'll be cleared up quickly,no-one wants decent fans banned.

Also hopefully whoever it was that did threaten the PDA guy gets identified cos that's not acceptable either.

Good luck with everything

and if you are absolved then the PDA operator should be sacked/banned for making stuff up?

can't go round making serious accusations like tghis unless you are 100% certain?

if they weren't sure they should have said so?

So you think a PDA operator has made up being threatened, then gone into the crowd and picked two guys, totally at random, for what possible reason?

At the most it's a case if mistaken identity, which would make it an honest enough mistake, certainly not warranting a sacking?Bizarre mind set some people have.

On the bright side at least you have talked to the bloke sat next to you. Maybe you will even have a chat at the game when it gets sorted.

Can we get something clear, PDA staff are not stewards. 99% of them are fans and they do this job for a bit of 'pin' money and entry to the game. So, if you try your card and it beeps but you don't get in then the PDA will say the the ticket has been used. Their official line at that point is to direct you to the ticket office to argue your case.
Believe it or not but some fans try and defraud the club by using a card entering the ground then passing the card back through the railings!! I know, amazing isn't it not all fans are honest!!
So the PDA guy that helped the fan who didn't get in the other night did not have a 'duty' to get you in and yet he did. I'd say he was pretty decent. Sigh or no sigh.

That's slightly misleading...

He does have a duty to try and resolve any issue for a paying customer.
Yes, people DO try to cheat the system and should be punished, but equally that should not be the default assumption.

Sometimes, there are glitches in a system, and ideally, any glitch would be spotted by the people at the turnstile. If they fail to notice a glitch, they have the following priorities (in order):

1) Ensure the safety of other fans still trying to get in, and of the fans already inside the ground

2) Attempt to resolve any technical issue with a customer

3) If the matter cannot be resolved expediently, they should offer the customer an alternative method of complaint, ideally one that doesn't mean missing the match.

If all of the above fails, it should be possible to review CCTV to ascertain if any problem DID occur at the turnstile and refund the customer his money if proven innocent.

It would also not be too difficult to record 'problem' incidents and the cards involved, thereby helping to identify frequent users of 'my card has a problem' claims.

Surely if a fan has no record of problems with their card, approaches an official and explains they have a problem, it's not beyond the wit of man to consider the fan to be telling the truth, and try and fix the problem, even if that means escorting them to their seat in an attempt to confirm it's not taken.

@withingtonmcfc & mekonmcfc

I hope you both can get this sorted sooner rather than later. I'm the fat bloke that sits directly in front of you both with the rather excitable missus. We were as amazed as anyone when the steward approached you on Saturday, especially as he wanted both of you - it's plainly obvious to everyone around us that you are not at the game 'together'.

The older gentleman that sits to your right did manage to get some info from one of the stewards at half-time and we were all amazed to hear that it was something to do with a PDA operator on Wednesday as everyone that attended on confirmed you arrived at completely different times.

These guys are both genuine blokes, everyone that sits nearby would vouch for them - there are some idiots at times but these two are not included!

I really hope it's as simple as mistaken identity and that Danny can sort this mess out - I'll give you both a nod next time you're in your seats and we can grab a pint at half-time.

I'm glad I don't sit near this lot, seems like none of them bother talking to anyone.

I suppose you have the phone numbers, addresses and Bluemoon usernames of everyone in your block then?

I know the names of most around me and wouldn't have to describe myself to them as the fat bloke.
