Ticket Collection Paris

A minor inconvenience?
Depends which part of Paris you were staying in pal,i was no where near the pullman hotel. My fault i suppose.

Agree with any system that ensures that the right people get the tickets.

However, I remember for Timisoara, we had to produce our travel documents, to prove that we were actually attending the match in Romania.

Now that’s how I would define a “minor inconvenience”

Yesterday, we had a choice of 90 minutes on public transport or a 40 minute taxi journey,.
Once we found the hotel, the whole process probably took another 40 minutes out of our day.

A complete pain in the arse, especially when I spotted at least 4 City fans, who aren’t even members, never mind Seasoncard holders.

My understanding of this is ( from a person who was on it ) was they were given ticket and wristband on the plane.
I have absolutely no problem with this being available to fellow Blues but it should be the same for all.
Passsports were checked at Manchester, no problem in dishing the tickets out once on board.
We had to go through a second security check at the hotel just to get in the room where they were distributing tickets.
again I don't have a problem with the people dishing out the tickets, Lisa and co, they were just doing a job.
But Chisholms attitude stinks and by the way they also had Plain Cloths Manchester Police in the hall watching who was there.

I always expected those travelling with Thomson would get their's on the plane. It might be unfair but why add an extra 200-300 to the queue if its not necessary?

Another reason not to go to the games then, well done UEFA / City or whoever comes up with this load of bollocks.

I bought a ticket on viagogo, printed at reception at hotel, shown my UK driving license on arrival at stadium and was straight in.
Was on my 2nd pint before City fans were even let out at the end. Waste of time.

I did not have a problem with the collection and have absolutley no problem with City doing it again. There were certainly less kn*bheads around than there were at Barcelona. We went via the Eurostar and got the underground from the train station, it may, as some have said been 16 stops but so what ? It took minutes to walk from the underground to the hotel and we were dealt with quickly whilst inside. Yes it is a bit of hassle but if it means the idiots/the banned/the hooligans that were throwing missiles over the netting at Barcelona causing serious injury are kept away, I am all for it.
I didnt have a problem with any of the City staff inside or the hotel staff, all were polite and efficient.
What little drinking time Iost by having to collect my ticket was made up after the match anyway !

No, the fault of the bloody club for not telling us where the collection point was until well after the tickets were sold (certainly for those who could buy early).
I bought three tickets on Tuesday and booked the ferry and hotel the same night, but it wasn't until Friday that I received official confirmation of the collection point. Fortunately we had plenty of time but it's hardly ideal.

Quick question if I can. Me and the wife went to the Munich away game last year and got the tickets from my mate and his Dad, who couldn't get to the match.
Does this method of getting the tickets basically mean that I have no chance of attending European away matches in the future?

Yup

Yes. However it is unlikely to be a regular thing in my opinion.

and it is a yup from me as well. I think this method of distributing tickets for Euro games is here to stay. We cannot have it both ways. Barca sells out at 13,000+ points and everyone screams points whores, the club bring in a system that stops that and everyone screams that it is wrong.

The system is more down to the attacks than points whores, otherwise it would apply to every away game rather than 4 or 5 a season abroad. The Kyiv arrangement, which wasn't the same as Paris, was down to short notice of the ban being lifted and £4.50 tickets.

We'll see Squirty :) just like Thatcher's ID cards, fans not criminals.

I think he's wrong
It's here to stay, as evidenced by the smarmy gobshite lording it over those who pay his wages at the collection point

I don't know who you are refering to but I didn't witness anyone 'lording it' over anyone. There were two guys in suits, a couple of female staff by the outer table (before the metal detector) all were polite and helpful and inside I just saw about 6-8 staff running around trying to get everybody out quickly.
If I was really pushed to moan, the metal detector was not needed but maybe the hotel or the police insisted on it ? I cannot recognise most of the posts in this thread and they do not mirror my experience.

The one thing that really gets my goat is that we are fans, and some of us go with partners and family, yet we do seem to be treated as criminals, not by the ticket office staff barring one.
I asked in both Kiev and Paris about the procedure and was told it would remain in place except for a final

The person I'm referring to did exactly that, but that doesn't mean he did it when you were there, unless you remained in the conference centre all of Tuesday and Wednesday?
My dealings with this ahem, gentleman, have been far from pleasant on the last two occasions unlike the helpful young man who sorted out my wristband and tickets, and the girl in the ticket office who ensured we were all allocated seats in the same tier. I even had a word with Ms Eaton to tell her what a good job the girl in the ticket office had done, so I think your post is a little unfair.

I don't doubt you, but if the Euros are incident free I can't see the justification next season. The final is the biggest risk so negates the whole logic of the new 'system'.
