Ticket Sales Policy

I know this topic seems to spring up on here a lot but it really is a concern especially with the great football we are currently serving up. From my own point of view I had a season ticket for 24 years then due to a lack of finances had to sadly give it up but still attended games as and when I could. Now things have improved and I am registered on the waiting list. However when the official website announces the game is sold out yet I see lots (and I mean lots) of empty seats when I watch the game it's extremely frustrating.

I read the post earlier from the Bristol fan on another topic and understood his frustration. I've had other people tell me similar things. People who aren't City fans want to watch us, City fans who aren't season ticket holders want to watch us but a combination of individual match day prices being so high and the difficulties for other folk getting a 'one off' ticket mean this doesn't happen.

I 100% agree with the original point made about the whole policy needs reviewing because currently it's obviously not working. Existing season ticket holders may 'poo poo' this but as has previously been mentioned if it continues there will be City fans out there who have only ever seen us on the telly.

ive missed quite a few this season, hit a bit of financial trouble so unable to travel back n forth from sheffield.

i usual pass the tickets on for free but since being caught, banned and threatened by the club for not doing a ticket exchange the official way (viagogo) ive not risked it. pretty sure the club dont give a shit about the empty seats, so long they make money through the viagogo link.

I missed a few games over Christmas and New Year and like you passed on my season card to a friend for free. I had no idea that this was against some sort of club policy and that the club would or even could have a problem with it. As a matter of principle I would never choose to use Viagogo and would be seriously pissed off if the club tried to force me to.

I have been handing my card on for years it a OAP so if it needs upgrading then that is what gets done, I cannot understand why fans who know they cannot make every game don't find someone near them to take their ticket.
Just arranged with the guy who sits beside me to have the use of his SC for the Sunderland game so I can give Mrs Dawlish a treat (she thinks it a shopping trip so its going to cost me).

I would be interested to know what the average Blue member premier league price is this season compared to last. I would guess that last season the average price was about £45 and this £52. Our end of season games all seem to be about £58 and judging by the empty seats is pricing people out.
I have chosen cup games and champions league games this season, and only watched one premier league match.
It's a tricky one for City to work out, do they keep inflating prices knowing that our ever growing fan base from overseas will visit and pay the going price but at the cost of atmosphere in the ground and not always being able to sell out, or keep prices sensible enabling those that have been priced out can again buy tickets and almost certainly make ,ore noise in the ground. I know which i'd prefer, but do the powers that be?

i wasnt banned officially but they confiscated my card and refused to give it back untill i sent a hand written letter explaining my actions. only just got it back for the arsenal match - first time i've felt completely disillusioned with the club, treating me like i was some sort of criminal! it could just have been a steward in a bad mood though, not heard any other stories like that. they kept that cool leather wallet the STs came with as well the fuckers

It was sold out so didn't price people out. It was ST holders not showing up on the whole. It is Easter holidays though and some people prefer a week in Tenerife....

yes the lad didnt look of age to use that card but he actually was. ID'd at the gate and then realised the name didn't match up. the lads a mate of mine so he wouldn't bullshit. as i say it sounds as if the steward was being a jobsworth, still didnt appreciate me having to ''explain myself'' though!

Like I said my son has 16/17 S/T and I 'accidentally' used his ticket one match that he couldn't attend - the stewards quite quickly and correctly stopped me and asked me to explain why I was an adult using a concession ticket.

Thankfully I had my unused ticket in my wallet, and explained I had simply taken the wrong one out.

I am possibly a bit old school, I am struggling with finances but over the last few months whereby the Cup games have been coming thick and fast I make the decision that City come before anything else, I haven't been out since Christmas as I see going to the Etihad as the most important thing, and especially if it is a game I've already paid for with my Season card. Now I know that I am probably in the minority and I personally know a few people who have season tickets who couldn't make the Southampton game due to work or holidays and have tried to get others to go but take up has been low. However I also know Blues who decide they just can't be arsed to go as it's on telly and it's an early morning kick off, and it's hard to juggle family things even though they have paid for the seats. It is theses fans I cannot fathom and probably I have to accept that this is the modern way and that tv makes it too easy for 'fans' to stay at home (please understand I am not including work commitments, holidays, etc)

I'm a chef so can't go to every game but I always end up giving my ticket to a friend of mine or my dads. I tried using Viagogo but like other posters have said their minimum selling prices are ridiculous. £56 for WBA being the prime example. I refuse to give up my season ticket because if I do I know I will never get it back.
