Ticket Shambles Tonight - Disgraceful

I had no confirmation that I'd got my seat (cup scheme) and was holding my breath when I got to the turnstile (for the Napoli game I got two emails and two texts!) A friend who sits near me got a message yesterday saying that he hadn't been allocated his own seat despite being in the cup scheme!

Same as you last night Bluebird1, no confirmation text or e-mail (im in all the cup schemes) praying as you get to the turnstile that a green light flashes is absolutely no way of going to a football match, saying that though my ticket worked absolutely fine!

If you aren't getting e-mails or texts I would suggest you e-mail Danny Wilson in Supporter Services. I had the same problem and he managed to get it sorted. Seems there was an issue with my notification preferences, but since these have been unchanged for the last 10 years the fault was obviously at City's end. By the sound of it it's a general problem which has affected a lot of Seasoncard holders.

As an extra precaution though I always print off a screen dump of the online purchase confirmation (or purchase history) just in case. There's still the worry that the card won't work, but if it didn't then at least I have proof of purchase in the absence of an e-mail/text. At the moment I wouldn't rely on City's Ticket System if I were you - better to print your own confirmation just in case.

To balance the equation a little.
Just phoned Customer Services with a general query, 5 min wait, and usual friendly and efficient service.

The website is even more appalling than usual today trying to get Villa tickets. Why do they insist on making it prettier every year? No-one cares, all I want is to be able to buy a ticket. My card still hasn't arrived either, painfully useless organisation.

It's the first time I haven't had confirmation in years so wasn't overly worried but there's still that moment when you think is it a green or red light! I had done a screen shot of my account (which has the points etc showing) and saved it to my phone just in case. If it happens again I'll mention it to Danny when I see him next

Was at the Manchester Academy Box Office yesterday picking up concert tickets and noticed they had United v Basel tickets on open sale £17 each.

Plenty of them getting snapped up as well with it being freshers week.

Can only think it would boost our cup attendances if tickets were as easy to purchase for our games as this.

we,re definitely missing a trick here

firstly the decision to stop selling tickets at the market streeet Citystore was a very poor one

as was the making people pay £10 to become a Blue Member just for the privilege of being able to buy a match ticket

add to that long waits to get through on the phone (+£2.50 booking fee) , unreliable online system or having to trail out to the ground etc......... and it's no wonder we have problems filling the ground

City do sell tickets at this box office - believe they were a fiver for yesterday's game - a student friend of mine has bought them the past 2 seasons

Can anyone confirm the ticketing is actually dealt with by a company in Nottingham?

Yes there's staff at the box office and upstairs at the store but most of it is outsourced to a company in Nottingham, right?

if this is correct this company needs it's contract terminating and a proper ticketing system with staff all in Manchester opening up in Manchester... with the leather seats they sit in being made in China :P

What would be the difference? well atleast it would be easier for us all to protest outside with placards and so on when they get it wrong, rather than emailing the current company and getting delayed responses (if lucky)

That's good to know but City need to give them a poster to put on the window. That's the only reason I noticed United tickets were on sale - no sign of City tickets anywhere and it was the day of the game.

Making it pretty is really easy. Probably took someone a day at most to sort out a new skin for the website.

Judging by the last god-knows-how-many years, making our ticketing system work appears to be the equivalent of trying to fix holes in a balloon with sellotape whilst someone is filling it with pins and someone else is blowing.

For the record, last week's mix-up over my card details (my fault) and getting a paper ticket for Napoli instead of my season card activated (MCFC bodge) aside, I've only had two issues since CoMS opened, and both were sorted out before kick off. That's not bad going. It wouldn't take much to go wrong on a large scale before the problems start to mount up, as they did last week.

They've always been much worse at sorting out ticketing at short notice, but that's to be expected. They've had all summer to work out the UCL ticketing plans, but if people like me aren't on the ball then this notification-based system causes problems.

I reckon there should be card readers on the outside walls of the stadium so you don't have to find a blue steward to find out where you're sitting, either at tonight's game or any future game. Some people still don't use the internet.
