Isn't Tim Burgess from Northwich or somewhere? It's only down the road. People easily forget Ian Brown is from Warrington.

The Charlatans aren't better than Oasis. I've heard almost everything they've done and not one of their albums is a patch on Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory. They've got some killer songs but they're pretty much a singles band to me.

So we move Manchester's boundaries? I'm not in there. I can also say that I have heard both and that the Charlatans shit all over Oasis, just as Blur did.

I didn't say that. I didn't even suggest it. Is Tim Burgess supposed to support Northwich Victoria or something? I've got Lads from Oldham and Bolton next to me at City.

Blur also did alot of great stuff but The Charlatans are little more than tag alongs who were every Indie Kids 7th favourite bands. Their albums aren't classics.

I'd say the first one Some Friendly is a classic, the rest have been a bit patchy.
Same with James really, some great songs but not really done a great album.

I can't say anything without sounding condescending, and that is the last thing I want to do, but just listen to a few Charliues albums from start to fin, then a few Oasis ones and then decide who's put a bit of thought into it and who's after cashing in. And Blur never cashed in, they kept going and doing what they do.

I've always been of the opinion that The Charlatans piss all over Oasis, but it's all about taste ultimately. To say they are just indie kids 7th favourite band though is to seriously under rate a very good band with a big following.

Re Tim, he's a good lad, for a camp rag

I'd say the same about Oasis. Def Maybe was in the main a classic (Digsys dinner and married with children excluded) but it was pretty much all downhill from there.

Thats the thing - he hasn't got the shirts!! He borrowed them today from G Neville after they sorted a deal out on Twitter!!

Tim Burgess has been on Soccer AM before (when it used to be good!!) amd the impression I get of him is that he's not really that much into football, just has a passing interest in it - typical (Northwich) rag!!

As for him musically.......well I'm a fan. His solo stuff is decent and some of The Charlatans stuff is class.

Tellin Stories is a fantastic album, The Charlatans are great as a live band and renditions of "Sproston Green" at the end of their gigs rank up there as much as "I Am The Resurrection" does as a great end to a gig, that has you leaving on cloud nine.

Oh yeah - he is camp as a row of tents though!!

He always came across as a prick when he lived in Northwich and he didn't like football then. So yeah typical Northwich rag!
