Tim Burgess

The Charlies weren't from Manc until they got the new guitarist involved (Mark?), and he's a red. Still better than Oasis (in my opinion anyway).

Isn't Tim Burgess from Northwich or somewhere? It's only down the road. People easily forget Ian Brown is from Warrington.

The Charlatans aren't better than Oasis. I've heard almost everything they've done and not one of their albums is a patch on Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory. They've got some killer songs but they're pretty much a singles band to me.
Ian Brown is from Timperley, lived on the same road as John Squire (Sylvan Avenue) and went to Alty Grammar. He was born in Warrington.

The people that say the '' Charlatans piss all over Oasis '' ... Is this a joke ?

No,it's their opinion,Mark, because music is subjective.
And Burgess was born in Salford,if anyone really cares.

Ok, so if people claimed East 17 are far better than the Beatles you would not hold back on that ?

Thought this was a RIP thread at first, also didn't know Soccer AM was still going. You learn something new every day.

His book Tellin Stories is worth a read. He's been doing that camp thing for a few years now, a bit embarrassing but thankfully never looked like that in the 90's.

As for wearing scum shirts, now that is a new low. Smacks of desperation. Must have been promoting something to be on TV?

Yes, it used to be really good when Fenners wrote all the material (or was part of writing it), now it's just shit.

I wouldn't agree with them personally, but they would be entitled to their opinion.
You like Oasis, others don't,and prefer different bands.
Is this really such a difficult concept for you to take on board?

Saw The Charlatans live a few times and always a good time was had.

They did two nights at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut up in Glasgow about '91-ish as a warm up for their national tour, so me and my mate drove up. My mate got talking to their manager and we ended up drinking with them all at their hotel after the concert.

Tim came across as a nice guy, he was dating some girl from Amsterdam, he said.

What impressed me was that he must have had more hashish stuck underneath his long fingernails than I had ever seen!!

I think the main point is getting lost in this debate. He may well be better (or worse) than Oasis, but that matters not. He is too fucking camp.
