Time for Mark Hughes to resign.

I posted earlier in the week that if we got knocked out tonight I couldnt see any logical reason why Hughes shouldn't be sacked tomorrow.

But I thought it was a top performance from the team tonight, and I'd be tempted to stick with him until the end of the season now. If we can replicate that sort of performance, and effort over the rest of the season then he might be worth another season. If we can replicate that sort of performance I can see us qualifying for Europe next season as well.

I doubt it will happen, and I can see more disappointing performances ahead of us, but in my eyes he's bought himself another month or so.

1 decent performance but he showed yet again why hes a waste of space. Subbed off Elano?

How many times........ Elano was out on his feet he couldnt have lasted another 5 minutes

He certainly wasn't fucked.

If a team of professional footballers cant put in a proper shift in the QF of the Uefa cup, they should not be playing at all imo. They were up for the 'occassion' tonight.

However, if they can replicate it sunday then there may be some merit in seeing how it goes for the rest of the season. But i cant help but think that tonights effort is going to be the reason for any failure on Sunday.

Cmon Hughes - we have the nucleus of a very good team

Given
Ned
SWP
Superman
And men of the match tonight Zabba & Kompany absolute warriors and have been all season

Elano needs to learn off the above two and then do that every game not just 1 in 10. He was knackered at the end due to a lack of games(partly due to his lazy attitude in previous outings)

Optimistic

Oh and the fans in 212 who booed fernandes back the team I know we have a weak squad and he will be one that goes but FFS

Why was you sat next to me as it came from 3 people-ish directly behind me-ish

Anyway read my post again same fecking difference to me who it was pointed at,it should not have happened

Oh for God's sake. Is anyone really arguing in favor of Hughes returning next season? I was fully willing to give him the entire campaign, but all we've learned is that eight months into the campaign, he still has no idea how to get the players to perform for him. The man brought in eight first team regulars, so at this point he can't complain about poor fits for his system.

Speaking of which, I've been watching Hughes's sides now for eight months, and I'm not entirely sure what his system is. All I know is that it involves a paucity of shots and is utterly worthless on set pieces at the attacking end, and a defense that can't mark or defend set pieces at the other end.

He seems like a decent chap and I wish him success at his next stop, but it has to be crystal clear to everyone at this point that he's simply not the right man for the job at City. For a club picked to finish in the top six -- and that was before all the transfers that have come in since the season kicked off -- City are headed for a miserable mid-table finish. And after crashing out embarrassingly early in both domestic cup competitions and failing to get past the quarterfinals in the UEFA Cup, all Hughes has to show from this season is a track record of consistent underachievement.

Sorry, Mark Hughes. Your performance simply hasn't been nearly good enough to justify bring brought back.

Sadly Hughes will not resign, he will never admit he`s clueless.

The game tonight was the players playing for the supporters, not Hughes,

He takes off Elano?, who was working the Hamburg defence over big time.

Leaves putting any pace up front untill the last seven mins?, when they were rocking in the first twenty mins of the second half was the time to bring Danny on, if not from the start.

Long high balls into Big Phil does not work when the defender is eighteen inches taller, play him in on the floor and he will hold the ball all night

Dunnie was exposed on the right due to no right back time after time, if all the supporters can see that why not the usless bum we pay as a manager?, it was a sending off waiting to happen.

Kompany was not fit so why play him?.

There are no excuses of players not putting in the effort, Hamburg are a good team sure enough, but had we a manager who knew what he was doing we would be in the semi`s now.

Hughes is clueless, sack the bum.

i'm either too stupid to work out our system or it's complete cobblers. when it works, it's very early balls over the top for our forwards. mostly though, its two DM's so micah can get forward and kill every attack, with stevie ireland running wherever he likes as long as he doesnt hang around the centre circle and knit the play together , and everyone making early moves to make sure they stay closely marked by the time the ball arrives upfield. mixed in with the long balls up to a midget striker.
