"Time To Go Mario"

A good piece that reflects a lot of people's current feelings.

But, as it's in the heat of the moment, which makes for good writing, it is over-simplistic to just blame Balotelli alone for our current failings. He's a big part of it but also a symptom of a greater management problem. And I use the word management in it's widest possible sense.

We haven't managed the last couple of months well enough, on the pitch and off, and Balotelli's meltdown is a function, not a cause, of that. And as usual the buck stops with the Manager. A month ago he looked safe and set for a contract extension. Now he's got 6 games to save himself and restore some faith from the dressing room, fans and owners, with whom his stock has suddenly plummeted. If we don't pull it round (that's our form not the title as that's long gone) he's a dead man walking... esp with Real Madrid looking like they'll throw La Liga away and no doubt their manager with it. Time will tell.

As for Balotelli, it seems the apology has come because he's suddenly realised that he could well be out of Italy's squad for the Euros. Why this hasn't occurred to the thick twat sooner is again a fault of management... Why he had to be played despite what's been done, said and written this last week or so is incredible. Anyway, maybe, just maybe, being left out this summer will get him to grow up? But I won't hold my breath. He'll probably get picked and fuck it up anyway. And if he doesn't then I still wouldn't trust him back here next season. He's a great player, potentially, but not worth the hassle I'm afraid. It's not like there aren't any other strikers out there that we could replace him with. No one would blame us for losing patience. But lots will blame us for persevering...

See ya Mario. I wonder if we could get a cannon in for the QPR game and make Noel Gallagher's prediction come true? (I still shudder at that interview they did on FF. Talk about building someone up... More bad management)

-- Tue Apr 10, 2012 1:53 pm --

Hart is level headed quality pro and his reaction must be ackowledged.
What a pile of turd. I'm a big fan of Hart but saying he's level-headed is shit and nothing but. Every time he concedes he goes mad and usually kicks something and mouths off.

Are you seriously comparing Hart to Balotelli?

Incredible.

Although it's true to form.

It is a good piece but its this kind of reactionary rubbish which lets it down -

"Time and time again, the Italian has single handedly de-railed City’s charge towards the title"

He has scored some important goals this season when others were failing and this piece seems to forget that. The game on Sunday, the team as a whole failed to impact themselves on the game for the whole match. If he was playing so bad then why did the manager not sub him earlier for one of the best strikers in the world on the bench? (he's fit enough now for longer twenty mins). We could all see it coming, why not sub him at half time? The Mario red meant nothing to the actual game other then to show his flaws in his character.

Agree... too simplistic.

My big worry is that he will be hounded out... then go on to be a worldwide superstar once he reaches 25yrs...

And whats the betting that one day he will come back to haunt us!

So we keep him just in case he comes back with someone else...? Great plan. We'd better not sell any more players ever then. Not sure how that'd stack up with FFPR though?

No one has said that we should keep him in case he comes back to haunt us so get your facts right. Too many knee jerk reactions on this site by so called loyal blues.

So its all down to Mario. No mention of full backs who let opposition players get in crosses without a challenge,a player going walk-about for six months,Silva going off the boil,Nasri only putting in a performance twice this season, our mid-field dynamo gone to ACON for weeks on end.Our only winger has gone backwards this season.Defenders turning their backs to the ball when other teams shoot, yes Mario your fault.

it's v good to see hart do that, shows he really gives a shit.

in relation to the article, it's good and i agree with most of it but we can't just blame mario. bu yeah he's gone missing so many times.

I'll try to answer some of the criticism here.

I'm not solely blaming Mario for our title failings. Tevez is the ultimate ****, the bastard official who deemed Kompany's tackle against United a red card damaged us no end, the over reliance on Silva, Yaya's absence, United's form (especially through the period of games which included Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs away), Savic's inexperience, our inability to play away from home like we did pre-Chelsea are all parts of the picture. I realised that night when Tevez refused to warm-up that he was finished with me and probably City. It hurt because I loved Tevez but I moved on in the months he wasn't here.
I stick by Mancini through anything because although he'll make mistakes, he knows what is needed, see my previous blog article entitled 'Forza Mancini'.
I haven't been influenced by SKY. I've wrestled with the feeling that Mario is bad for us for a couple of months. I've sat being ridiculed in the smokehut at work and in the pub for defending him after the Scott Parker incident. I didn't want to let bad feelings creep in so stuck by Mario. The nagging doubt was there though. Time and time again he loses the ball and tries to claim he's been fouled when nobody has touched him. Then he slowly gets up and has clearly seen his arse. I snapped with the Kolarov incident. I agree that Kolarov was partly to blame but Mario dragged it out for far too long. I was at that game so didn't hear any commentary from SKY. I watched Fanzone on Sunday because I lose my temper listening to Tyler and his band of City haters.
I'm devastated that I've come to think this. My 5 year old cried last night when he asked what the title of my article meant and I told him that Mario might get sold. The bloke next to me at the Sunderland game must have thought I was mad when I said to my lad that I was talking about NDJ's disgraceful behaviour when telling the bloke next to me that he should be dragged off and sold.

I'm sorry if it comes across as if I'm blaming Mario for the whole thing. I didn't mean for it to. It was written in the heat of the moment. I don't want him at Eastlands next season because I think he's a liability. I don't want Tevez here either though, nor Adebayor. They've all caused Mancini aggro and for that I can't change my mind.

I don't blame Balo...but he certainly hasn't helped. This picture made me laugh though:
