To See Us Lift The League Cup Will Be A Dream Come True

First time I saw us win something and the last cup we won for a very long time.
Dennis Tueart's overhead kick and Malcolm Macdonald in tears at full time. What a mard arse, I thought, and then 81 came along and I didn't think he was soft anymore.
I'd love us to win this.

this this and this

we mustn't forget peter barnes and his role in the win.

I have only vague memories of last season's FA Cup Final because no one wants to recall defeat. However afterwards, I remember walking up the Wembley Park Tube steps and looking back down Wembley Way and hoping that we'd be back next season. Losing Cup Finalists often do go back as the experience is extra motivation. For whatever reason, we're back at the first opportunity. .

Don't take the day for granted blues. I bet the blues from 1976 didn't think they'd have to wait 35 years to see City go back and win a proper Cup at Wembley.

just a reminder of how good we were around that time.

some great goals and not a shinner in sight.

It's a shame that those of you who think its a shit cup, easily winnable and that we have bigger fish to fry didn't sample that Wembley final in 1976.

To be fair, I don't think there's too many on here who are of that opinion. You'll always find a few fuckwits; ignore them. We are not yet in a position of being choosy about which trophies to win and end up being blase about a domestic final, even if it is ''only'' the League Cup. We now have a week's rest and a chance for our walking wounded to get their strength up (hopefully get Kun bench ready). Bring it on!

A lot to say for that actually mate. Talking on the phone to my Dad this afternoon and he can recall the 70 and 76 League Cup Finals like they were yesterday but was sketchy about the Wolves game in 74. He's now 74 and went to all three games, can describe Pardoe scoring in 1970 and the build up and finish to the winner in 76. He even remembers which part of Wembley he was in for both games but he struggled to recount the Wolves defeat. Although he remembers everything about 1981 but I suppose that's slightly different as it's been spoken about so many times over the years since.

City's 6th visit to Wembley in 3 years, It would have been the 7th if the 2012 Community Shield hadn't been switched to Villa Park. Now that's a stat most of us on here would never have thought possible even a few short years ago.

Gotta treat every final like it is the best chance to win something.
As a club we are only too aware of the barren years. I don't want to end up like the average rag with a huge sense of entitlement.
BTW - I don't know about you but I am excited about next Sunday already. Its gonna be a great week.

How many times did we relive the last day QPR win? All those videos. Those memories have been reinforced. Whereas we're in denial over the Wigan FA Cup game. You know it happened, but it's too painful to relive the day. I must have deleted all that day's photos before I'd even got home.

7 months later it's useful in a way. It serves as a reminder of what can go wrong, and that you can handle defeat, and come back from it.
