Morrissey has waded back into a row over the Falklands by repeating his claims the islands belong to Argentina and having his band dress up in T-shirts on stage saying: "We hate William and Kate".
He first made remarks about the islands during a concert in the Argentine city of Cordoba last week and repeated them at a concert in the capital Buenos Aires on Tuesday. Morrissey, 52, told an audience of more than 10,000 fans: “We all know that the Malvinas are Argentina’s.” Asking them not to blame the British people, he added: "It's the government that decides, they never listen to the people." Five members of his band then posed on stage wearing T-shirts showing William and Kate on their wedding day with the words: "We hate William and Kate."
The former Smiths singer, who is hugely popular in South America as a solo artist, did not wear the T-shirt himself.
Prince William is currently serving in the Falklands as a pilot and tensions have been raised between Britain and Argentina ahead of the 30th anniversary of the 1982 conflict.
