Today's shooting in America thread

Haha!
Not a gun owner are we?!
Fingerprint lock, by my bed, you’re dead in 3 seconds!

Wanna test the thesis?! Haha!

Are your windows extra strong your just standard issue? You don't seem like a gal who wears pearls so I doubt you will have a large jewellery collection in your master bedroom.

I'll avoid the risk to get to your baseball card collection and help myself to what I can get downstairs and the contents of your fridge whilst the sidekick firebombs the captain's quarters.

I’ve no doubt you have the ability to do all of that, but don’t forget, if you come upstairs or threaten the safety of my family, you die!

Windows are standard double owned energy efficient models with interior locks. The downstairs are all alarmed, as are all the doors. Good luck!

If the alarm doesn’t make you run, stick to the fridge, because my big TV downstairs is an old Sony and doesn’t even have an HDMI input! You can buy a better TV for a grand at Costco, and I wouldn’t die for the 48” smart TVs upstairs!

P.S. The beer is in the big white fridge in the basement, not the big stainless steel one in the kitchen!

P.P.S. Never had a baseball card, but I wish I still had my old football cards! Just this morning my wife and I were talking about that thin, brittle gum that came with them and made them smell so good!

P.P.S. Almost midnight here and gotta fly in the a.m., so while I’ve enjoyed the banter, got to bow out. Be well.

What's more likely?
1) An intruder or intruders invade your household; you somehow wake everyone up and move upstairs; you warn the intruder(s) that you're armed and not to come upstairs; the intruder(s) nonetheless go upstairs; the intruder(s) are armed and will kill you or your family if you don't take action; and you shoot one or more of them dead saving yourself/family; or any one of
2) Intruders invade but any one or more of the steps above fail;
3) Your children are curious about this fabulous weapon you have and one of them finds your gun and accidentally shoots a family member;
4) You, your wife or one of your children become traumatized by some event. Life isn't worth living - or so the traumatized person thinks. In a brief moment of absolute grief, knowing where there's an easy way to end ones own life, they commit suicide via gun;
5) Your children are proud of you. They talk up the gun you own in class. Other children press back in disbelief: "Prove it," they say. And so one of your children takes classmates into wherever your gun is stashed and proceeds to take out the gun.

"Whoa! How cool!" some exclaim.

"Fake gun!" others state. Prove it's real.

Unfortunate events unfold leading to a shooting injury/death.
===
TL/DR - Is it more likely that by keeping a gun in your household that death to you or a family member results - than it is likely that the presence of the gun saves you or a household member from death at the hands of an intruder?

===
OK - the above study doesn't apply to you. You're not suicidal, nor are your wife/children. And you've carefully trained your children in gun safety.

I'm pretty sure that these exact thoughts passed through the minds of home protection gun purchasers who subsequently became a negative statistic in the above study.

I read somewhere yesterday that the kids in the school in Michigan were being praised for following protocol for gun attacks on their school...
Fuckinell- they actually have safety drills in anticipation of them happening!!
Goddam crazy motherfuckers!! Haha!

idaho sounds nice though, seems like proper people reside around them parts :-)

And sadly one of the kids killed didn’t follow the protocols and tried to charge the gunman and got killed protecting his classmates. Hailed a hero rightly, but doesn’t change the fact he’s dead.
