I thought he'd fucked it, but when he got back into the lead the Chinese guy's composure seemed to go and he left himself open a lot. It wasn't even close in the end.

Yes the Chinese guy chased it a bit too early and Sinden just picked him off.
I did wince when the commentator informed us you get points for a kick to the helmet- ouch.

One thing I'll say is that if you've ever complained about VAR in football, don't watch taekwondo. Took them about 2 minutes to decide if someone stepped outside the area. And it wasn't like it was just out, his whole foot was a mile out.

I think you are right, I know the BBC lost out on a bid....however they could do something about the graphics etc in their studios. It's like a cartoon programme. IMHO

It's a joke. They can afford to pay twats like Lineker over a million a year and pay for documentaries about the rags but they cheap out on the Olympics.

I always thought it was a rule that it had to be on terrestrial TV. Let's be honest, who's going to give a shit about the Olympics in the future if it becomes a fully PPV event? Who's going to have heard of any of the Olympians if the only people that watched it were the few hundred thousand who were willing to pay 30 quid to stream it (or more when it's exclusive).

Incidentally, what a load of shit. It's an event in which the athletes aren't paid to compete, everything is largely publicly funded from the infrastructure to the training of the athletes, but then the thing that everyone has paid for is put behind a paywall by some big American corporation.

Reminds me of academia. The public funds it, but if the public wants to read the research, they have to pay a big publisher who contributes fuck all to the process.
