Tommy Doyle | Signs for Wolves | will be confirmed Jul 1st

Hamburg is a huge club in a great city, yet while that might be impressive and novel for a player coming from a small provincial club, it's arguably not what Doyle needed or indeed now needs. The pressure of playing in a big city for a big team is inconsequential having been at City: he simply needs time out on the pitch.
I just wondered what level the stuff outside of game time is at. If he was being badly coached and getting no time would be worse.

A coach Pep knows over an 'unknown' regardless of game time, should only be a good thing? Unless he has changed approach massively since Bayern.

He could have spent the year in Manchester training with superior players and under Guardiola and his own coaches. Lad needs game time and his agent should be advising him accordingly, not pretending he could be the next Sancho or Bellingham.

Another game passes and he‘s sat on the bench for the duration. Hamburg’s long unbeaten stretch comes to an inglorious end in a single goal defeat away to Hannover. Hamburg took a big support down but conceded early and were unimaginative in midfield and out wide. Well behind St Pauli now.

I was just looking at todays premier league games and Gallagher and Gilmour are both playing, on loan from Chelsea.
Maybe they are of a higher standard and older too but we seem to have very few players who go on loan to higher ranked clubs.

Gallagher is a year older than Doyle but had already had substantial experience at Charlton and Swansea as well as a season in the top flight at the Albion. One of the reasons he looks so much older now is because he’s battle hardened already. Gilmour is more like Foden, an exceptional talent, but he needed beefing up as well and was just far too good for the Championship. Not sure there’s much merit in our keeping players in the U23s but certain loans are hugely wasteful and some simply never recover.

Hamburg won 3-0 today and Doyle didn’t get off the bench again. This loan doesn’t seem to have worked out so far.

Hamburg have moved up to third with today’s win but even when they went three up in the 80th minute, Walter made three changes and didn’t look to use Doyle. Fourth placed Schalke up next, so at least an opportunity to see Itakura, who scored in yesterday’s win over Nurnberg.

Again it’s really strange how it’s worked out because everytime he’s played he’s played pretty well. The manager just mustn’t be fond of him.
