Will Kroos have more or less defensive responsibilities than he has now at real? That's my concern.

Kroos is playing at the Euros in a midfield pair with Khedira. It works quite well up to now. Even if Kroos isn't brilliant defensively.
Don't worry, Pep knows how to defend as a team, like Low does. You won't need an extra player to protect the space behind Kroos.

And Kroos is more effect playing behind a Silva or KDB position. That's why I wouldn't think too much about the assist rate. Not his main job. He has to build up the game from a deeper position with his immense passing accuracy. Similar to Modric.
Kroos coming to City would be a new dimension. He would lift the potential of KDB, Silva and Dinho. And in the end Sergio.

Defending as we know it doesn't exist under Pep. The opposition side has to be incredible to keep the ball long enough to create a chance. If a pass isn't spot on, the ball over the top pinpoint then the chance is gone. The keeper sweeps up anything too long, the defenders anything too short and the rest of the side press the ball as soon as they lose it. If Germany played Iceland last night rather than England, you'd have seen the gulf in world rankings. Iceland couldn't cope with any pressure, just like the Russians couldn't. England though, couldn't maintain their pressing game for more than five minutes.

Solid insight, thanks. The prospects of Kroos to KDB to aguero are mouth watering. It'd be nice to have auba up there instead of Silva or Navas outside. Feels like we're lacking a bit of finishing.

Yeah sure! Auba is a weapon in terms of pace and goal instinct including superb end product. AND most of all he would relieve Sergio causing more problems for the opposition defence.
But having said that Auba is more of a central striker like Sergio. Pep would have to find a system to play both at the same time.

Kroos is one of the best midfielders in the world so players like him are as untouchable as they come these days.

I wonder how much we could get him for? Surely we're the ones in control here and we can be the team dicking people about on fees for once? I'm not as high as most but I'd be happy to get him for 35 or so. I felt like that quote might get me laughed at. Was it 60 that dortmund wanted that we passed on for auba? Kicker is fairly reliable, but we already knew Pep was interested. I want to start hearing about interest from Kroos and Real.
