Toni Kroos

Totally agree. I mentioned a week or so ago, that those 3 really seem to compliment one another, with each one of them able to offer something different. Between the 3 of them, there isn't a weakness.

Yeah there is, there's some glaring weaknesses - None of them are ball carriers, none of them will dribble with the ball and inject some momentum, and none of them are goalscorers.

The best midfields, like Pep's Barcelona, have a midfielder who will take people on as well as arriving late in the box to grab goals, on top of just controlling play and retain possession.

Iniesta would get 10 goals a season for Pep at Barcelona, and so would Xavi.

At Bayern, Schweinsteiger and Vidal got goals from the midfield.

Kroos-Fernandinho-Gundogan wouldn't get 10 between them, and that would put a huge amount of pressure on the front 3 to deliver.

If you are playing a 3 man midfield, one of them needs to contribute in front of goal.

I'd have loved Kroos before we signed Gundogan, but there's a lot of overlap in their style of play. Now, I'd take Pogba over Kroos every single day. He provides goals and will take players on if things get static.

If we did play 3-3-1-3 we'd have possibly the best goal scoring midfielder in the world in front of them plus sane, Sterling, Aguero.

We won't play 3331 every week though (if we play it at all, the smart money is still on 4231 or 433 80% of the time, especially in the first season), and De Bruyne and Aguero will get marked out of games if they are the only 2 goal threats other than some 1 goal in 5 wingers.

There's much truth in your post, but Gundogan don't just pass the ball around like Kroos.

I wouldn't say Gundogan dribbles players as well as Iniesta, but he runs forward more often than him with the ball when there's space. A lot like Yaya of old. Gundogan is pretty athletic.

Gundogan had more dribbles per game than Iniesta this season, and less than Pogba.

So I wouldn't worry at all that a Kross, Gundogan, Fernandinho midfield would be too static.

That said, theres no doubt that Pogba would make the midfield more dynamic than Kross would.

Anyone who has followed Bayern in the last 3 years knows Pep loves 3-3-3-1, it's not "insane" at all.
Sorry to go a bit off topic but if he does play something like 3331 with for example Kroos, Gundogun and Fernandinho, who the fuck does the defending on the flanks? What has happened at Bayern when he plays that formation in terms of full back type duties?

You press from the front and ensure that the opposition don't get the opportunity to counter you.

Defending? Where we're going we don't need defending

Do you think this would work in the Premier League? I'm not saying it wouldn't, just the thought frightens me a little, if I'm being honest.

Oh Jesus. I thought as much. :)
