Toni Kroos

fuck me a 3/4 year stop gap, that's some stop gap that is
Ha.
I guess we have been spoilt by some really successful recruitment over the past few years, with young 20-22 year old coming in and becoming first team pros.

Also, we were lucky with Ferna, given his workload. You might see Kroos fall off much sooner.
My point was simply that someone a bit younger like Jorginho, irrespective of football ability, woukd be much better for long term squad dynamics.

He's nowhere near the player he was or people still make him out to be.

He was an absolute disgrace in that Champions League final and would rather have Delph.

Modric hides a multitude of sins.
I was with you up until the Delph bit.

He is the only Real player I would want at this moment in time, even at his current age. He’s one of only a few footballers on earth that could come on for David and we wouldn’t notice the change.

One of my favorites outside City.

I read yesterday that Rafa Benites asked Modric to stop using outside of right foot passes. Thank God, he didn't listen. That's one of the best things I have watched in football.

Ridiculous thing to ask, anyway, as outside of the boot passes, when executed well, are such an asset to any player’s game. It is incredibly difficult for defenders to properly contain players when passes of any arch/angle can be released from either foot, at any time, regardless of the relative position of the ball to the opposing players body/feet. I use outside the boot passes all the time as they keep the opposition off-balance and allow you to work the ball through tight spaces more easily.

Asking a player to stop doing them is like telling a musician to remove two strings from their cello: sure, they can still play, but the Prelude is going to sound more like a quaalude.

I doubt that. Kroos' game depends a lot less heavily on speed and physicality than Fernandinho's. I don't see why Kroos can't go on and have a Pirlo/Alonso-esque tail end of his career.

Don’t think he was as good as either to be fair.

City manager will do everything possible to acquire Kroos, with the 31-year-old midfielder set to give his answer to the request on Jan. 1.

And with the World Cup set to take place in 2022, he is keen to move for first-team football to ensure a place in the Germany side, having made just one appearance in LaLiga ahead of El Clasico against Barcelona on Sunday (stream live on ESPN+ at 10:15 a.m. ET).

Seems a bit of a strange one as we seem ok in midfield for now. If he was 21 and one we wanted to take over from someone i can see the logic in that. Not that i would be against it, it just seems we need to be looking at a striker more. He would be rotating anyway so he would not be playing game in game out, probably enough to make sure his national coach notices though i suppose.

Pep loves his midfielders though and Kroos is one of the best around who we don't already have. Seems strange for a couple of seasons at best we would have him on top form. Could be just paper talk this from camp Kroos but we shall see i suppose.

Strange one. If we were still in the League Cup come early January, I could kind of see us going for him. Mahrez will be off on ACON duties, and if Sterling’s situation hasn’t improved, we may feel the need for another midfielder if Bernardo or Foden are needed out wide; I know Palmer could also play there.

Signing someone in the winter window is always fraught with difficulties, but he’s worked with Guardiola so presumably wouldn’t take time to get up to speed. He’s also another calm head and the kind Guardiola likes when we’ve stopped playing to our strengths, ala yesterday’s second half.

Not saying we should sign him, simply fathoming out whether there could be any logic to doing so.

He’s too old and slow now isn’t he?

Grealish, Bernardo, Foden, Mahrez and Gundogan are all better than him.
