But Reading like Southampton didn't have 19 shots and more possession. We just couldn't score that day which seems to be our problem these days.

They won, we won both playing shit. What's your point?
Are you slow or something? Look at the match stats. It's one thing being unable to break a team down, another to be outplayed on your own pitch. The only the time that has happened to us was the 2nd half against Dortmund

Real battered us first half to be fair.

You're right in the majority though. We lose but never get battered, United have taken some hidings. Us, Newcastle, Bilboa + a few games where they have been battered yet scraped through.

BBC Match Stats Rags v Saints
Possession 50/50
Shots 11/ 21
Shots on Target 7/10
Corners 4/8

Goals 2/1

I posted some stats in the Mancini's weakness thread and they show Utd are far more clinical in front of goal from less chances created, than we are. They are not convincing though in overall play and have been eeking out these results all year. No one has outplayed us in the league. Long way to go. We'll be breathing down their necks all the way.
Liverpool (A), arsenal (H), swansea (H)....You have been outplayed several times mate

Rafa strikes again. And people still think he's a decent manager. The man is a fraud.

Your players know that Rafa is only there for the short-term not an ideal situation.
They thought RDM was only there for the short term and they won the Champions League and FA cup double for him.
Benitez won two League titles at Valencia. He can't be a bad manager, but he has an impossible situation at Chelsea. Brian Clough, the greatest ever, went to leeds at the wrong time

We will win it again this year. We have less points and more games to catch up with, than the 8 points with 6 games to go of last season.

Also, it's a lot easier to fix, the problem of being great and just not not scoring from 17 chances each game, than their problem of being shite all match and somehow fumbling over the line each time.

Also, f**k them in the arse!

We are somehow gonna cause them even more pain than last year.

We will catch up but lose out imo. 2-3 points in it.

We need some quality signings to overturn things imo. A CM and wide player.

Yeah, it could happen that way mate.

My feeling is that Yaya will step up big time like last season, as will Carlos. He has been playing great - just not scoring, but as soon as he gets one or two, he will go on a roll. The same for Kun. Hell, even David is scoring and shooting every game now.

I wouldn't say the hates the same though.

Cloughed hammered Revie and their style of play, then became manager following a highly successful era by Revie. It was a mammoth task.

Benitez is going to a team freshly turned over with playing staff and given the role as Interim so the pressures not huge as its temporary anyway and none of the new player hate him. Maybe Terry but I've not seen anything bad, just the fans on his back.

Fact is RDM won double but is a limited manager. A change was always on the cards, just not so soon and undignified following a history making half season.

Shame but fuck em. They'd laugh if it was us so laugh at them.

-- Wed Jan 30, 2013 10:29 pm --

Valencia was a long time ago. He is not a good manager any more. He plays a left back in left wing when he has a left winger on the bench. He plays an impotent striker ahead of Ba, who was keeping pace with Robin van Persie when he was at Newcastle. He substitutes a defender for another defender for no apparent reason at the same time in every second half whether we're ahead or behind. The team has capitulated and blown 2 goal leads to teams in or around the relegation zone on three different occasions.

That isn't even an exhaustive list. He is a terrible manager. I don't care how good he used to be. Torres used to be a world-class striker. Try calling him that with a straight face now. Opposition fans only want us to keep him (understandably) for all the wrong reasons.

Do you ever become a bad manager? Different to being a player where it depends on the body.

I wouldn't play Torres, but Mourinho had to play Shevchenko. Maybe it's the same situation?

You will probably still end up winning something - if you give him a chance
