Top 100 Favourite Male Vocalists Final plus # 1

I don't need to ask some of the folks: I spent 3 months in South Africa in 1983. Saw Elton John in concert at Sun City during that time and he has never been tarred and feathered for it.
Mate, I meant that if a listener decides he/she doesn't like a band because they played Sun City while dozens of other well-known artists were boycotting, it's a fair point if that listener wants that band to piss off. To some listeners it's a black stain forever. Linda Ronstadt gets a ton of shit for it over here to this day. I have a hard time listening to Ted Nugent anymore because the guy has gone loco politically (or always was and hid it). Sun City hasn't impacted my thinking on Queen personally, but if it does someone else's, I understand.

Some of the names being mentioned on here makes me think my Dad and Grandads are still alive and posting on Bluemoon.
That's rather polite way of saying that this thread is plagued with FOCs, which it obviously is.

No Noel Gallagher or Shaun Ryder. Pah! I was well off the mark suggesting those two but they're better front men than singers.

Thanks to @Protein Junkie for another excellent music poll, appreciated: )

And I uspect it's just a convenient stick to bash a band they simply don't like with.

Also, Queen themselves have expressed regret over their decision to go there. Fine if someone thinks they should not have gone but, even so, it's surely time to forgive.

I could have refused to go their on secondment but I decided it would be good to go and see the place for myself and have zero regrets about doing so on any level. Actually being there was a powerful experience, the kind that no amount of reading or seeing documentaries or whatever can match.

True. If you'd said to 14 year old me sat listening to Slaughter and the Dogs, here's the list you'll put into a music thread in 2022 I'd have told you to piss off. Except I wouldn't have, what I'd probably have said was 'never heard of them'.
And that's the thing about being an FOC - you've been around long enough and met enough people to be exposed to all sorts of music and it's all additive so liking a bit of Frank and rating him doesn't mean you stop listening to Cabaret Voltaire or a bit of Dub FX or whatever your kids are into.

Being an FOC, it's brilliant

Loved them from their early trashy days, right through to their masterpiece that is Tin Drum. Mick Karn (R.I.P.) played a huge part in their sound through his incredible fretless bass playing (and his sax playing too) .... my joint favourite bass player too (along with Tom Petersson and his 12 string 'wall of sound')
Like Roxy Music they were almost two different bands. Their early image was very much New York Dolls but even on those early albums they could play. One of my most played albums is the compilation Assemblage which shows the transition from the early guitar stuff to Quiet Life. My only regret was never seeing them live.
Not heard Tom Peterson - anything you’d recommend mate?

Great work Protein very interesting Poll, just going through the list I have to say amazed folks think Cash is a better vocalist than Vince Gill but hey ho.
Al Jarreau the best Jazz soul vocalist IMHO so low in the rankings what a shame. Going to cry now.
