Top 105 Guitarists - The Winner page 33

BS wouldn't make my Top 100 but Zappa does.

Frank is one of 12 guitrists on today's listing that I have seen live in concert.
Saw Frank at Hammersmith Odeon around 1982. Probably wasn’t the best gig with hindsight, I think they were having a few internal band issues. Dweezil came on to play, I think he was 13 at the time. He is an awesome player in his own right. I’m sure Steve Vai was playing as well although my memory may be playing tricks there!
Where did you see him OB?

He's also on the list of people I had the opportunity to see and didn't take the chance then they croaked-Gutted.
Add to that Queen, Rory Gallagher...Also miffed I didn't go and see Gary Moore in his later years. The still got the blues tour in the early nineties was the last. Saw him from the back on the streets era right through till then.
Also gutted I didn't go to the Thin Lizzy farewell gig at Reading festival (I think) when they were joined on stage by all the ex guitarists. Had the chance, didn't take it for some reason. Grand Slam, Phil Lynotts last band, was another I regret not seeing...Come to the think of it, Laurence Archer deserves a mention in dispatches too. Excellent guitar player.

I went through a period in the early 90s where I would go and see legendary people and then they'd die not long after. The likes of Albert King, David Ruffin, Dizzy Gillespie and Albert Collins. It got to the point where even though I knew it was coincidence I was getting a bit paranoid about it all.

Manchester Apollo - Feb '79. No Steve Vai or Terry Bozzio sadly but it was a very good gig. He played Yellow snow :-)

Satriani is the only one of today's crowd that made my top 10.

Clearly he wasn't favoured by many voters but technically I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone better - I'm not a musician though so what do I know.

Technically he's outstanding and taught the likes of Kirk Hammett and Steve Vai. But it's about favourite not greatest and as I'm not a huge fan of his sound I didn't include him in my 10.
