It has been part of many players. Most of which coined a style and sound for longer than the 4 years Hendrix managed. He is iconic undoubtedly, but his death at a young age has helped that.

The thing with Hendrix, is to try and imagine him bursting onto the scene at that time. Hearing/seeing someone doing all that for the first time. It must have been absolutely mind blowing (maaan)

My generation's similar moment was first hearing Eddie Van Halen doing his thing.

Harrison is the only one of those I've not seen in concert.

Lifeson and Beck both in my top 5.

I'll never forget the first time I heard Lifeson play, it was Xmas day the year All The Wolrd's A Stage was released and Santa delivered a nice triple gatefold cover import version of what remains my favourite Rush album. I was truly gobsmacked by the playing that was emanating from my headphones.

Knopfler should be in the top 10! I get it's favourite and all that, but come on people! Go and watch the man play the guitar, he's an absolute master and so unique in his fingerpicking style. I love Santana and had him in my top 10 but I get musically he might not be to everyone's taste.

Knopfler gave us Sultans of Swing, he deserves to be in the top 10 just for that!
