Tories win Copeland b-election.

Still don't understand the Tory position on removing Corbyn. " We need a stronger opposition to remove us from government "
There's Tory and Tory though as with everything. Anyone that agrees with everything a party stands for has the nous of a house brick.

One can be in favour on centre right economics and yet be very liberal. An unopposed Tory government is good for no one.

I wonder what excuses the Corbynites will make up for this one. Similarly how do they explain their much reduced majority when up against the proven bullshitter Paul Nuttall in Stoke.

Big changes needed in the Labour party and quickly, for everyone's sake. The country needs a viable opposition, and Labour are pitiful at present

And why Labour are losing ground is because traditionally many of their core supporters are left-leaning on economics but to the right socially.

We've already seen some fools say it's boundary changes.

Someone will be along soon enough to say that voters are too stupid and shouldn't be allowed a say in elections.

Very true. They want to tax the rich at 70% but don't want a immigrant near their house.

It's all very odd.

The problem for Labour is Corbyn, everyone, including the vast majority of Labour MP's knows this, but the
ludicrous £3 membership deal resulted in every far left fruit loop and spotty student leaping on the bandwagon
creating a 'Membership' in the hundreds of thousands. This, has now made it virtually impossible to remove him,
so a CND loving, Hamas embracing £500 billion borrowing 70's far left throwback finds himself ensconced and superglued
to the seat opposite Theresa May. Apparently, there was a 7% shift downwards, overall in both by elections,
they kept Stoke, but in marginals, which Stoke never was, they'll be hammered, and he'll be the leader of of a party
resembling the Lib Dems.

So is it Corbyn's fault for having principles and essentially wanting a fairer society and distribution of wealth or the electorate's for believing that the Tories give a toss about them (unless they have millions in the bank)? After all if 659M* people believe that the scum are god's own football club then by democratic rules this must be true?

Whilst I may be a "far left fruit loop" or mortgage paying family man now having to support his grandchildren because of Tory policies as I prefer to term it, give me a principled politician every day rather than a (B)liar who will say anything to gain and retain power. If this means opposition because the majority are too selfish to see through the lies then so be it. Doing the right thing is rarely easy but it remains the right thing nevertheless.

Well clearly the electorate do. A lot of what Corbyn says makes sense to thinking people who believe there is an alternative to austerity. But he personally is unelectable. That's the problem. Politics today is as much about the messenger as the message, whether we think that's right or wrong.
I agree with you apart from the making sense part. (Wrecking the economy never makes sense no matter how noble the intentions.)

However, the reason Labour is doing so terribly is in the most part because of Corbyn the man and not just his policies. Rightly or wrongly (rightly) the electorate has decided he is not in any way suitable to be Prime Minister of this country.

There is much disgruntlement across the nation about the state of the NHS, welfare, the railways, our schools and plenty else and if a credible Labour figure was to take charge, they would improve Labour's fortunes dramatically.

It is shameful that Labour are not doing much better in these circumstances, and this failure is down to Corbyn.
