Tory MP Nick Fletcher blames crime in young men on female Doctor Who

Were you more offended when a white actor was cast as Othello or a black actor that was cast as Anne Boylen for TV dramas?

I can't wait to see Danny Dyer cast as Nelson Mandela, now that'd be interesting ;)

That's quite an assumption you've jumped to there. Conveniently slipping over the issue I'm talking about to play the racism card, well done you.

back to the point. Diversity agendas and equality committees = Positive discrimination. And guess what mate, that's still discrimination. Why is forcing it going to be a positive? You can answer my point perhaps rather than play the race card like an eleven year old girl who doesn't like mature debate?

Because it’s about creating opportunities that previously barely existed. The system from politics, business, the media, some sports etc., positively discriminates in favour of privately educated white males. The system is geared to this and is widely accepted as the norm, even if it excludes the majority of the population.

So, when a company/organisation tries to buck that trend, ie a female Doctor Who, a time travelling alien with two hearts, it is immediately denounced and people scream about quotas or positive discrimination as if blissfully unaware that the Doctor has been played by a white male for half a century.

Your angst at too many black faces in adverts, whilst blind to the discrimination you happily accept and feel comfortable with, reveals your own cultural prejudices.

White people played people of colour for decades in film and tv and if anyone says it's not right then certain people scream "cancel culture" Woke" "pc gone mad" yet, if non white actors get more roles or heaven forbid play fictional characters not previously played by people of colour then the same certain people scream "cancel culture" "woke" "pc gone mad"

Curious.

Not at all, I'm interested in hearing why folk think it lost half its audience.

The rot started when Tennant left. Lack of strong storyline/concepts, poor scripts and poor choice of Doctors. Capaldi was unwatchable. The current one slightly better, but not for me.

Basically, the same thing that happened first time around.
