Tottenham are better than us.

Spurs are pretty much a long ball team, with a couple of kick-and-run merchants.

They rely soley on either lumping it up to crouch for knock downs, or getting either Bale or Lennon to twat it and sprint past a full-back, to then cross it for crouch to either try and score or knock it down for someone else.

Whereas we try to control games, play possession football and try not to concede goals.

On paper you wouldnt really take one of Spurs' players over ours, hence why I wouldn't say that they are "better" than us.

One thing I would say is that Spurs are more a more effective team than us. They do seem to have more fight in them and play with more urgency than us. I think that ultimately they will get 4th over us again, because long ball football is much more effective than possession football, which could be our downfall at the end of the day... Just like it is for Arsenal in their attempts to win the league.
Spurs beat Inter Milan and have qualified from their Champions League group. They are a pleasure to watch and have some top quality players. They can go long to Crouch, but what's wrong with that? We're a bit one dimensional at times. It's good to have some variation in your game

I think City are a better team, and as the new players settle in we will get better and better.

But it makes no sense to run down Spurs. You might not like them for whatever reason, but there's no denying they are playing some great attacking football at the moment

Their weakness is their defending. I think they will continually lose games away from home, whereas we look very strong away from home at the moment (though we seem to be playing strong teams at home at the moment, and weak teams away - so that may change)
Thankyou Marvin, and brian the blue.

Thankyou for being complimentary about my club. I'd like to reciprocate and say that I believe that Man City will, without doubt, be challenging for the title for the next few years to come. And I'm almost certain that they'll win it at some point soon.

Spurs are a good side no doubt about it, but I think inconsistency will be a key factor, they're away form isn't the best and having lost 3 on the road already I can see that doubling over Dec/Jan. The way seem to be set up when I have watched them is, lets go out and score more than them, which is all well and good but like today for example Liverpool could and maybe should have been out of sight by half time.

I have no doubt they will be challenging for fourth again this season, but I don't believe it will be with us. Arsenal look the most likely as I believe their defence is equally as poor as Tottenham's and in those games where that goal just won't come they will find themselves dropping points more often than not. Spurs for me are currently at their peak attacking wise and still struggle to beat teams, while Arsenal play some brilliant football, if they know they're in for a tough game some of their players often go missing and when really up against it, look very poor at the back. Both teams IMO look very beatable and I think get a bit too much respect from opposition, look how easy it was for Bolton to get at Spurs, West Brom at the Emirates. Look at it this way, there is probably only 1 player from each team who would get in our starting line up - compare that with how many would get in there's from us, Chelsea and the rags.

Us on the other hand are still coming together as a team and are set up completely different. While we don't create as many chances I think once the team gels in an attacking sense (like at Fulham) on a consistent basis and with our superior defence over both Spurs and Arsenal we will pull away. Then should we look to add maybe a couple of players over the Jan transfer window, to add some more attacking options then we won't be to far from the top of the league. We are definitely just a couple of games away from really getting it together and being what the manager wants us to be. I have huge faith in the way Mancini is trying to mould us in to a strong powerful unit that is really difficult to beat, we literally are just around the corner from being as decisive in our attack as we generally are at the back.

Forza Mancini

Buzzer, once again calm down, I was not suggesting you were responsible for all xenophobia, ignorance or vitriol to Mancio.

You do get quite agitated and if a forum ruins your good vibe then I feel bad for you. I hope to not upset you again.

Mate, i am more chilled than ever since my Batteries were re-energized, i do not bite as i used to and even the posters that used to be quite aggressive and nasty toward me are no more, and if they return i will just laugh, but i will defend myself when someone starts digging away at me for fuk all, you come across the old "calm down bit" but when YOU start to mince and start picking away and quoting my posts then yes, i will put you straight. As for feeling bad for me, i'm glad i'm me as if this is the way some people on here act in the real world well yes, thankfuk i'm me, to many people up there own arses and only their opinion ever counts, especialy if you dare speak the truth about City.

Football is tribal, always has been.

Them and us Rez.

You don't agree with that?
Of course I agree with that! Absolutely, without reservation and I revel in it.

But tribalism is different to all-out venom. Be our rivals, fine. I'm not sure it would ever be the most dynamic of rivalries, but I have no real objection it. But it has to be a respectful rivalry. Based on the idea that we're both a part of football and that without one or the other, football would be a lesser thing.

I really hope you are right. City and Spurs are both on the up at the moment. It looks like it's head to head between City and Spurs at the moment. Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are a little weaker this season so maybe one or more of those will crack and there will be room for us both - although I don't think any of them will weaken to the extent required.

It's hard to be too gracious towards Spurs as some of Citys worst experiences have been at the hands of Spurs:

1981, Q/F FA Cup defeat at Maine Rd, Q/F League Cup defeat at Eastlands, and of course last season's end of season head to head for 4th spot. But I don't think that can really blind City fans view of Spurs strength. You can despise a club like Man Utd or Arsenal whilst at the same time appreciate that they can play good football

Us being your bogey team at times I can understand might not endear you to us. God, I used to dread Newcastle games, both home and away.

All I can say is that I have great respect for Man City's history and readily acknowledge that you're a very strong team in the making. I can see a struggle between us developing over the years. It would certainly be refreshing to see other clubs fighting it out at the top of the table instead of Arse, Chelsea and Man U year on year.

Let's see where the dice fall!

Spurs are a funny team, I don't think Redknapp is a good enough manager to take them any further though. He's too much of a Keegan, he lacks well thought out tactics and is instead relying on the huge amount of talent they have. I don't think he's a good enough manager to succeed in Europe as his all out attack tactic will get found out against the top teams (i.e. first half v Inter away). They always look good though when it works and should be around top 4 again.
