Tottenham are better than us.

You don't agree with that?
Of course I agree with that! Absolutely, without reservation and I revel in it.

But tribalism is different to all-out venom. Be our rivals, fine. I'm not sure it would ever be the most dynamic of rivalries, but I have no real objection it. But it has to be a respectful rivalry. Based on the idea that we're both a part of football and that without one or the other, football would be a lesser thing.

i still maintain that if you created a thread
right now on a spurs forum slagging us to high
heaven i wouldn't give a shit because i would be
blissfully unaware of it.
Spurs are great, top club. top team.
There, there do you feel better now.

Spurs are a funny team, I don't think Redknapp is a good enough manager to take them any further though. He's too much of a Keegan, he lacks well thought out tactics and is instead relying on the huge amount of talent they have. I don't think he's a good enough manager to succeed in Europe as his all out attack tactic will get found out against the top teams (i.e. first half v Inter away). They always look good though when it works and should be around top 4 again.

This - Plus I don't think that there defence is anywhere near good enough to challenge for the title or Champions League.

Ok but what you are not privvy to is the years of abuse, piss taking and pity that we have put up with.

If that was not bad enough, we win the jackpot and have some money. Our club then acts in a way that it believes is for the best for the club. next thing we know, the media hate us, Moyes et al conclude we have no class. Every time we draw or lose, fans of those clubs come on here, sit on their pedestal and lecture us on where we are going wrong, when our manager will be sacked and that our players are mercenaries. Do they come on here after a good game (ie Fulham)? Do they hell as like.

You may come on here and be reasonable but as you are the 2,734th poster to come on here and have a little go (such as being arrogant etc), then some will bite back as that is human nature.

Football is tribal. Football supporters have no direct say in the way that their club is viewed by the media. Football fans are loyal and if 2,733 posters come on here and belittle us, even if the following guy is reasonable, the reaction will be venomous. as has been said, if you find that offensive, avoid looking. Rag cafe hate us, there are 1 or 2 posters that post without that hatred and are often commplimentary, but as football is football - I try and avoid looking as I know I will see the same thing over and over again. I will also never be able to effect their views as they are entrenched.

It is the same here, our wagons have formed a circle and the defence mechanism has set in (we have been forced to take that position over the past 18 months) and I dare say the spuds would do the same in the same position. Meet me in a pub and talk sense, I would do the same back to you but when we get spud after spud, toffee after gooner coming on here when their teams have a good result, it gets a little tiresome.

There you go, you made me fire up my laptop and write a long post back though I still feel I have not done the sublect justice or given you an insight into how it feels to be City right now.

This thread would be more respectful if it was fans of random clubs posting pictures of their cock and balls. As it is, it's just a load of people saying 'my team is better than yours' in ever more excruciating ways.

For the record, I have the biggest dick, my dad is bad bastard and my team is the best and they wear the cleanest shirts so suck on that.

Their Champions League group looked very tough, but it turned out that Werder Bremen, FC Twente weren't that strong, and Inter were struggling

But still they have done really well in the Champions League. And they've managed to stay in touch with the top 4 at the same time.

I think a lot of other football fans really under-estimate the difficulty of playing midweek football and the Premiership. I am sure that that's the biggest reason why teams like Utd just do enough (normally) at the weekend to get a result. Fergie picks a team just srong enough to win at the weekend and plays the long game. If we'd have not been in the Europa league I reckon we'd be maybe 4 points better off, and still in the League Cup

Rez9000 what will it take for you to go away?

What do you want us to say that will stop you whining out another thousand words every twenty minutes?

Because right now I'm prepared to do the Lambeth Walk and gawd bless the memory of the Queen mum.
Whatever it takes for you to fuck off back to your own forum.

You have defended your club. Jesus Christ you have defended your club.
Now do one.

If I was a Spurs fan - if I was unfortunate enough to have a dad who wore chunky bracelets and v-neck sweaters who slapped my mum about and who dragged me to Shite Hart Lane when I was a kid - I would be mortified by you tonight. I would think you have embarrassed my club.
Because you've been such a whiny moany tantrum-throwing woman about everything.
Shut up now and go.

You think we've been nasty and mean to your football club. Jesus man, try coming on here another time (in fact...dont) and you'll see we're FAR nastier with each other.
And in the main we brush ourselves down, and post and post again.
Because we're adults and we can take it.

You have acted like a prepubescent girl tonight who's heard people slating their favourite one from Westlife and its just been embarrassing!

Spurs are a good side no doubt about it, but I think inconsistency will be a key factor, they're away form isn't the best and having lost 3 on the road already I can see that doubling over Dec/Jan. The way seem to be set up when I have watched them is, lets go out and score more than them, which is all well and good but like today for example Liverpool could and maybe should have been out of sight by half time.

I have no doubt they will be challenging for fourth again this season, but I don't believe it will be with us. Arsenal look the most likely as I believe their defence is equally as poor as Tottenham's and in those games where that goal just won't come they will find themselves dropping points more often than not. Spurs for me are currently at their peak attacking wise and still struggle to beat teams, while Arsenal play some brilliant football, if they know they're in for a tough game some of their players often go missing and when really up against it, look very poor at the back. Both teams IMO look very beatable and I think get a bit too much respect from opposition, look how easy it was for Bolton to get at Spurs, West Brom at the Emirates. Look at it this way, there is probably only 1 player from each team who would get in our starting line up - compare that with how many would get in there's from us, Chelsea and the rags.

Us on the other hand are still coming together as a team and are set up completely different. While we don't create as many chances I think once the team gels in an attacking sense (like at Fulham) on a consistent basis and with our superior defence over both Spurs and Arsenal we will pull away. Then should we look to add maybe a couple of players over the Jan transfer window, to add some more attacking options then we won't be to far from the top of the league. We are definitely just a couple of games away from really getting it together and being what the manager wants us to be. I have huge faith in the way Mancini is trying to mould us in to a strong powerful unit that is really difficult to beat, we literally are just around the corner from being as decisive in our attack as we generally are at the back.

Forza Mancini

I think you listen to stupid pundits too much, both Arsenal and Spurs have something City lacks which is why teams give them so much respect....pace. Arsenal are the best away team in the league by some distance, which tells you in an open game we are more likely to win than most teams. We have conceded 5 goals more than you, but has scored 12 goals more than you as well. So the gap between our attack is bigger than the gap between our defence. We also conceded less than you last season and you have the same centre halves as last season, the only reason why you have conceded less than us this season is you have 3 defensive midfielders playing most games, we simply commit alot more players than you

I'm not reading 25 pages of shite so I dont know whats been said but for me Spurs have the best attacking options in the league.

If they ever sort that defence out because as it stands I dont think a single one of them is good enough for a title winning team then they will be serious title contenders.
