Tottenham are better than us.

26 pages of slagging off Spurs. Posts accusing them of being on drugs, doped up, getting lucky (even though they have been ripped off so much this season)

It sounds bitter really and not very classy

Shit it, I am sure we were after the Greater Manchester & District Sunday night forum class award of late November 2010, Thread on Southern Teams Category.

It will no doubt end up going to FCUM talking about the hair do of Southend's No 10 now.

FUCK.

Ha - so you have to win something before you can think your club is the bollocks? Fuck that, we sang "best team in the land and all the world" at York away 11 years ago.

We have no interest on how you view us. The problem is your, not ours and we simply do not care. What feeling of joy did being "likkle city", "the plucky underdog", "the sleeping giant" ever give us? Fuck all fella and if you think we must cow tow to our "betters" then you think wrong. This is not victorian britain that we live in. If anything, it is the roaring 80's and if you think we are new money yuppies, I couldn't give a toss and neither could 90% of the match going blues I talk with.

A trophy will not change us, we are as we are and no amount of lecturing on our own bastard forum will change that. I have a feeling that you may secure more luck if you go stand in the Thames Estury and shout at the tide to turn. Atleast you will think you have won that battle in the next 6 hours or so.

How can you say a trophy won't change you when you don't know what it's like to win one?

I didn't care about you before you got the money, just the same as I don't care about Blackburn or Wigan, maybe you have always been a bunch of twats, I'll have to take you at your word on that one.

Classy. And with that - I win the argument. Thank you and good night.

Bloody hell this is such an embarrasing thread. Hate to admit it but Spurs are a much better team. They play as a team we rely on individuals too much. . Put it this way if we had Tevez out for a few games we would be stuck for goals. Spurs can have van der varrt out for a few games and still have plenty of quality to get them goals. We are getting better but so are Spurs and their team togetherness will get them 4th place comfortably. I very much hope Im talking a load of shit.

Ok, well I didn't know that. But the responses haven't, right?

Second, you may go in for the peace, love and hippy stuff but i am made from different stuff and I know that the terrace would not be half as fun singing "If you are ambivilent to Man Utd clap you hands" etc etc.
Dude, I'#m one of the most visceral, prfane and vocal person on the terraces you'd care to meet. On the day it's no hold barred (up to the point of violence of course), but outside of matchday, I view the rest of the footballing world with sangunity. Why should it be else?

Spuds have had their time in the wilderness? FFS - 10 minutes ago you were showing off how you have not gone more than 9 years without a trophy. Make you bloody mind up.
That was a comment about our overall history. Over the last decade and a half, we've been a shadow of what we were, even with the occassional trophy.

You won't change my opinion. I do not especially like Spurs, their fans or their love in with the media. This opinion has been formed through a couple of decades of personal experience and you may well be a lovely lad that my mum could take hat shopping at Selfridges,
With pleasure :)

but it will not outweigh the gloating, arrogant, soft southern shits that have come across in the past.
And I won't defend those fans. Yes, there are Spurs fans who are arrogant, who have a sense of entitlement, who think that because we won things before, we automatically deserve to win things now. That's inexcusable, and I will lambast them as much as I will what I've lambasted here. Why? Because the greater point is that abuse of a fellow fan, outside of the cauldron of matchday damages football and all of us.

I also think you play attacking football and so could we if we cought a big bloke to lump it up to and had VDV to hit half a dozen tap ins from knock downs over half a season.
:D you know what they say - if it works...

It's been good talking to you, if a little fraught.

Hate thread about Spurs every other day. Hate thread about Everton every week. Hate thread about United every hour. I don't think City fans should go around calling every other team bitter in my opinion

I think Spurs can relate to City as we've been in the shadows of our rivals for so long. I'm enjoying us getting closer to Arsenal, just as I'm enjoying City closing the gap on United.

I think you listen to stupid pundits too much, both Arsenal and Spurs have something City lacks which is why teams give them so much respect....pace. Arsenal are the best away team in the league by some distance, which tells you in an open game we are more likely to win than most teams. We have conceded 5 goals more than you, but has scored 12 goals more than you as well. So the gap between our attack is bigger than the gap between our defence. We also conceded less than you last season and you have the same centre halves as last season, the only reason why you have conceded less than us this season is you have 3 defensive midfielders playing most games, we simply commit alot more players than you

We didn't have the same centre-halfs last season though pal, we had Toure and Lescott for the first half of the season under Hughes, then Mancini used Kompany and Boyata/ Kompany and Lescott before finally putting Kolo and Vincent together for the last month of the season. You also must take into account Mancini has improved the defensive side of Micah Richards down the right, who now stops a lot more balls coming into our box, on the left Aleksander Kolarov is a big step up on Wayne Bridge defensively whilst also being better going forward.

As for playing three holding midfielders, that's weak, you know Yaya Toure plays in and advanced position to support Tevez and Silva, something which we lacked v Stoke.

You have scored plenty more goals than us, that I can't deny, but we're starting to get into a rhythm now we have Balo and Tevez finally playing together, with Silva tucked in behind and Johnson choping at the bit to come in, the goals are starting to flow and we seem a lot more fluid.

As for Tottenham, they're a fantastic side, a side I enjoy watching immensely, they have great width and pace in Lennon and Bale as well as goal scorers in Defoe and Crouch, I must say Van der Vaart looks a world class acquisition as well, they without doubt will push the top four again. For me though there downfall will be the Champions League I can see them reaching the quarter-finals, and you can already see Arsenal and Spurs will be hell bent on out doing each other in the competition, the problem will be when Spurs drop out I can see it hitting them hard and effecting there form in the last few months of the season, this despite the fact they will have King and Dawson back, a top quality defensive partnership.

As for comparisons with City, I believe we will get stronger in the second half of the season, with Kolarov, Boateng and Balo coming into there own and hopefully allowing us to push the top three, Spurs could also achieve this, but there going to need to remain injury free, something which isn't as big a burden for us because I believe we have greater depth of quality and also as stated elimination from the Champions League.

Now to explain a lot of City's fans hatred of Spurs, it stems from the FA Cup final in 1981 and has only exasperated since then, you knocked us out of the FA Cup in what was a big chance for us to end the wait for a trophy in 1993, we were humiliated 5-2 in front of BBC cameras, with us celebrating the opening of a new stand at Maine Road. This was followed by Spurs helping to put a nail in our relegation coffin in 2001, we had a perfectly good goal disallowed at WHL only to draw 1-1, then at Maine Road, we had two goals disallowed again only for Sergai Rebrov to score an 89th minute winner, it only gets worse. In 2007 Spurs knocked us out of the League Cup in the quarter finals, in 2009 you beat us at WHL to end our hopes of Europa League qualification and last year stopped us reaching the Champions League. In short, in as respectful as possible, you always get in our fucking way haha.
The goals wont start flowing when you play one upfront with Tevez being that man as he always drop too deep and you end up looking like 4-6-0. We have Chamakh and he's not close to Tevez, but he's someone who has played lone striker all his career and he plays on the shoulder between the two centre backs and pinged them back, which gives other players space to move in. Your strength is in a way your weakness, as Tevez is your best player, but because he doesnt play like a lone striker, he makes it harder for the rest of the team to find space. Unless this is solves, I can see City scoring alot of goals consistently.

As far as Boateng goes, he is not better than Richards imo. Also there are other question about City that we dont have about other teams, like how will Balotelli adapt, we all know his talent, but talent alone is not enough to be a great player, and for me there's question marks about his attitude and mentality. Barry, De Jong and Toure is simply too defensive, specielly when Spurs have vdv and modric in their three man midfield, and arsenal has wilshere and cesc there. He has to sacrifice one of the defensive midfielders, and that will weaken your defence

Ok but what you are not privvy to is the years of abuse, piss taking and pity that we have put up with.

If that was not bad enough, we win the jackpot and have some money. Our club then acts in a way that it believes is for the best for the club. next thing we know, the media hate us, Moyes et al conclude we have no class. Every time we draw or lose, fans of those clubs come on here, sit on their pedestal and lecture us on where we are going wrong, when our manager will be sacked and that our players are mercenaries. Do they come on here after a good game (ie Fulham)? Do they hell as like.

You may come on here and be reasonable but as you are the 2,734th poster to come on here and have a little go (such as being arrogant etc), then some will bite back as that is human nature.

Football is tribal. Football supporters have no direct say in the way that their club is viewed by the media. Football fans are loyal and if 2,733 posters come on here and belittle us, even if the following guy is reasonable, the reaction will be venomous. as has been said, if you find that offensive, avoid looking. Rag cafe hate us, there are 1 or 2 posters that post without that hatred and are often commplimentary, but as football is football - I try and avoid looking as I know I will see the same thing over and over again. I will also never be able to effect their views as they are entrenched.

It is the same here, our wagons have formed a circle and the defence mechanism has set in (we have been forced to take that position over the past 18 months) and I dare say the spuds would do the same in the same position. Meet me in a pub and talk sense, I would do the same back to you but when we get spud after spud, toffee after gooner coming on here when their teams have a good result, it gets a little tiresome.

There you go, you made me fire up my laptop and write a long post back though I still feel I have not done the sublect justice or given you an insight into how it feels to be City right now.

Good post, but the arrogance eminating from a lot of your fans (in this thread and elsewhere) is uncalled for and unjustified.

you've won nothing in the premiership era, you've never even reached a final in that time, you've never even finished top four. Yet you strike lucky with a rich owner and all of a sudden you're this huge club (far bigger than the likes of Everton and Spurs).

Don't be so naive as to think you're the only club who have suffered in that time, everyone outside the 'top 4' has had similar experiences. Yet instead of showing humility in the face of the huge pile of fortune that fell into your lap you go into arrogance overdrive making the attitude of your fans virtually indisguinshable from that of Utd.

Utd fans are loathsome bastards, horrible glory hunting snides, you'd think after putting up with their shit for decades you'd learn from their mistakes, instead you jump right into bed with them before you've even won a single trophy.

I don't think you get it do you, you have had bad times, but nothing compared to this club, its never arrogance when we talk about whats happening to the club its confidence, when you've watched utter shite for years you tend to get excited when we sign some world class players at a club... don't act as if you've ever been hard done to, consistant top 10 premier league finishes is what about 95% of football fans dream of.

when our own club says that we are going to challenge for the title and want to win everything and back that up buy spending money on fantastic players you start to talk the talk because for the first time in 34 years we have something to shout about because finally the club has some sense of direction and future, something you spurs fans as well as other clubs are not thankful for because you've had it so so long.

Our rivals are the scum, a team more successful than arsenal, at this moment in time more successful then liverpool and probably one of the most ignorant and arrogant teams ever, while they win a trophy vitually every year, we sit there with nothing, up comes a new owner and believe enters the air, we start having confidence and as soon as we do we get sot down buy the media and teams like you because you don't like the way we do things because it doesn't help your club, to me your the arrogant ones. You seem to complain about our spending because it inflates the market, every player we buy you tried yet we bid more and your shocked and disgusted, newsflash thats how a transfer market works.

What makes it your business how we spend our money. Why do you take such an interest in our club, is it truely jelousy, because even if you came 4th and won the F.A cup I's still rather support city, because i know the future of this club is sustainable, while yours is, although better than others, on a knife edge, yuor manager is keeping you together, as soon as 2012 comes and he becomes England's manager, which i fully expect as so do many other, your success will pass and your hatred for this club will intensify.

We gloat about our spending and act like we are big club because we have been told that big things will happen to this club, what do expect us to do? Sit and wait patiently, im sorry but 34 years is long enough so im going to enjoy myself and this club while it fucking lasts because i had enough of waiting and watching other fucking teams patronise and belittle us.

So next time you think about slagging our club off empathise with our situation because we've tried to empathise with yours but your attitude towards us is disgusting and we cannot tolerate it anymore!!!
