Tottenham Hotspur thread (2015/16)

I see they've got rid of Chiriches today; punted him out to Napoli for an "undisclosed fee". Riight. Probably had to pay the Neapolitans (lovely ice cream, by the way!) to take him off their hands. So that's Dawson, Kaboul and now Chiriches offloaded in the last year or so. Just need to get shut of Walker now, and they might stop letting in so many soft goals. All those players were/are liabilities.

I agree. Trippier and Alderweireld make them really, really better in defence (at least on paper surely). Smart dealings by Pochettino and Levy so far, although having Mason and Bentaleb as CMs seems very lightweight (as admirable their policy of playing own youth players is).

Trippier is still relatively unproven in the PL; 1 season with a side that ended up getting relegated. It's a big step up to plying in a team with aspirations of qualifying for the Europa League.

I'm in the minority obviously but I thought Chiriches was a good player. Think spurs will regret letting him leave.

I dunno mate, he was pretty dreadful to be honest. He was really good on the ball (as like most of our defenders) but was so sloppy defending it was a joke. He made kyle walker and rose look world class defending at times. I think he will do well abroad where he has more time on the ball and improve his confidence. There was one game where he conceded a last minute penalty in the Europa and started laughing, that was enough to put me off.

As usual I hope they manage to break into the top four this year at the expense of the scum or Arse, wonder if that Alli player will be able to break into their ranks, he seems a very appealing prospect.

I don't think we will but it would be nice!! He looked good yesterday but I don't read too much into friendlies. Anybody that has seen him play thinks he is brilliant and very mature for his age. I'm more excited to see Pritchard but most Spurs fans are seem to be wanting to see Alli more. It's exiting to have so many youngsters across the middle of the park. Bentaleb, Eriksen, Mason, Pritchard, Townsend, Lamela, Alli. Carroll could be in there too but don't think we'll see too much of him

This is the third time we've gone down the Director Of Football route. It's always been hit and miss. I really loved Arnesen and think that got the ball rolling for us until Chelsea came sniffing. Commoli was a mixed bag, for every brilliant signing (Berbatov, Modric, Bale) there were players like Ghaly, Bent, Bentley etc. Baldini has signed some potential but signed some atrocious players as well. Jol & AVB didn't like either of the DOF's at the club and I don't think MP is all that keen on Baldini, but won't complain if we keep getting youngsters in. I still think he was pissed off with Levy for not bringing in Schnerderlin last season, just like AVB was pissed off we didn't build his team around Moutinho either

Berahino deal looks inevitable IMO.

Kane slightly behind Berahino, with Eriksen to the left sounds very good.

Spurs definitely still need another centre midfielder though. Wanyama looks the obvious one, him and Berahino would really strengthen their first eleven.

They look a million miles of a top four team imo.

They need a hell of a lot of investment to challange the big four which I cant see them doing with a new stadium on the horizon and theyve already wasted the Bale money.

Kane and Berahino scoring goals, with Wanyama coming in and they'll look a different proposition.

Don't think they're too far away from United and Liverpool if Berahino and Wanyama come in and settle quickly.

Very poor start, we still look slow and predictable going forwards. Vertonghen isn't playing well in defence, he's been our weak link at the back so far. Kane has played very well but hasn't banged them in just yet. I was hoping we would get Bolasie too, for me he is the player I like most watching in the premiership, although he's not the best he certainly is exciting to watch. Not sure if any of these other deals will go through yet

Bolasie is a typical spuds player and one you shouldn't sign if you want to improve. He's flashy and will do the odd good thing but he's not consistent enough and you need to find consistency.

You reckon Deli Alli can force himself into the first team mate?

I think he's a lot more consistent than when he first started but maybe it's me thinking he will be a good buy! I've enjoyed some of our left wingers down the years and think he would be decent. The trouble is they have slapped a 20m price tag on him!
