Transfer Strategy

I'd just like to know if there are any truths in certain players being offered out as part of some of these recent transfer debacles.
If there is/was how will this effect team morale when they are now told we want you to stay because the deals fell through.
This worries me going forward whilst are rivals have all strengthened and seem rearing to go for this new sesson

Really am sick of getting bullied and used in the transfer market, I just don’t understand why we don’t have any bollocks about us!

we are now going into a season with no recognised left back and no recognised striker
When they put 80m price tag on a 40m player we want that feels like being bullied, and decided not to pay for it might be the right response

I'm mystified at the level of entitlement on the last few pages of this thread.

As Pep said, they may have wanted 200 million for Kane. So, we're supposed to just pay it!!!??? It appears we set a fair value and walked away once it became obvious the price was too high.
It also looks like Ronaldo was always going to go to Utd once they got involved and Messi was obviously never coming.

We've paid a British record for Jack Grealish, who will attain Beckham like marketing value but will also develop into a better player.

Very few if anyone knows the way things actually unfolded. The Club very probably said, we wait for the right player at the right price, or for Academy graduates to prove themselves.
If this is the case I fully support them.

Very drunk last night , apologies for my stupid rants. I have no problems when we refuse to pay the silly money asked at times, and everyone has their own opinions. Let’s give Delap some games and see how he does, may save us 150mill.

I think everything other than Kane may well be bad luck.

The Kane pursuit was a fiasco. We had no reason for such confidence and experienced people at City should have surely recognised that earlier. I could be wrong but from the outside looking in, to go through all that, and not even know the price Spurs wanted is very strange. I really think that at no stage did Spurs say they were looking for a particular amount.

I don't think the "entitled" brigade actually understand who we want to be as a club.
53yo, season ticket holder for over 20 years. I do not want us to be seen as inflating the market as others did in the past.
For those questioning the sentence above, remember how often (even after takeover) we've broken transfer records.
I doubt we'll be able to deal with certain clubs across Europe in the near future for 1 of 2 reasons
They think we'll pay anything - hence we're not
They're scared to fuck of us and are being strong armed from elsewhere to keep things "level"

Ok. No you're right we shouldn't just pay anything for a 28 year old. And yes, as Ferran showed, we may already have half a solution.
The point many are making though is why carry on the Kane pursuit for so long, creating City fan interest and media etc when according to Pep, it was never realistic.

With respect, we massively inflated the market in 79-81. In fact, at one point we were only a few months away from having 3 x 1million players in the team.
But I take your point

We will never be the good guys to the media, nobody is talking about how our biggest signing was Rodri before Grealish. It's always us who spoilt the market and inflate everything. We might as well embrace it, just like Chelsea or PSG do.

I’m struggling to understand what we actually did to recruit a striker this season?

Pep has admitted we didn’t even enter negotiations or even make a bid for Kane because Tottenham refused to sell him from day one….

Also read that we didn’t make a bid for Ronaldo either??

None of us will ever know what goes on behind the scenes but it looks like we desperately need a striker and didn’t even bid for one??
