Trevor Francis RIP

One of Swales worst moves(and there was books worth of them) Sold him to Sampdoria in 82 because(apparently) we couldn't afford his wages. The average attendance slumped from 34000 to 26000, 8000 down. Now was that a false aconomy? Too fucking right it was! A magical player who brought the crowds and glamour to City, but only for one season :(
Swales could have afforded his wage from the cash he embezzled from the turnstiles.

RIP Trevor, you really were a star. Saw him play for Brum at 16 and he was a different class. Unbelievably I too was at Stoke and the reason there was so many of us was purely down to him, certainly the biggest turnout I've seen barring semis and finals.

Really sad news. I only really knew of him as an opposition manager, as the first mllion pound player and as a pundit. Wasn't old enough to know him as an ex City player. RIP. Although I knew his wife died a couple of years back I wasn't aware he was that ill.

I went to see City play Coventry away 12th December 1882 we won 1-0 (Tueart).

I went as a guest of the Coventry Physio (George??) and had access to the Players lounge after the game. Trevor Francis walked in with a stunning Blonde on one arm and a beautiful brunette on the other, both dripping in gold and looking stunning. I have his autograph somewhere.

The only other outstanding feature was the entrance of Bond... Kevin Bond. He entered with a nice girl on his arm and a Deerstalker hat, was unreal.

RIP Trevor. We will all miss you.
Blimey that’s some innings you’ve had what’s the secret :-)

After Bell and Barnes the next generation of city hero for me...Loved him for England too

I think we won the 1st 3 games of the season when he signed and were top of the first table (tables only game out after 3 games then)

Great player...predicted he had scored with a header for Forest in the European Final 10 minutes before he did

RIP Mr Francis

RIP.

I know he played for us, but I’ll always remember him for that diving header in the European Cup Final in Munich.

Very sad
I still remember that last minute winner v Wolves, Christmas 81
That was one of the greatest goals I've ever seen, anywhere.

Trevor got on to a through ball nodded on by Kevin Reeves, if I recall correctly, behind the Wolves backline and hit it early just by the box and it arrowed low into the net so hard that it rebounded out almost to the penalty area line.

Some strike, some player! May he rest in peace.
