Trevor Francis RIP

RIP Trevor. Awful news to start the week.
I remember saying hello to him in Cork back when City played there in November '81 in a challenge match against the local LOI team. He nodded and smiled at me. Made my day.

Still, even his spell with us didn't last long, it was a privilege to watch him in that season he spent with us. He was an absolute thoroughbred of a footballer and showed it pretty well whenever he took the field.
Couldn’t have put it better myself mate.

Completely blindsided me this, loved watching Trevor no matter which team he was playing for, such a wonderful footballer, had everything, still makes my all time greatest City squad to this day he was that good !

R.I.P Trevor.

Came to us at the back end of his career, but help us to promotion and win the League Cup in 91

Took over from Big Fat Ron who went to Villa and got us in to Europe and 2 cup finals in 93.

Brought in Des Walker from Sampdoria & Chris Waddle from Marseille who were both great for us, then was sacked end of 94-95 season. Some say harshly, some think he should have done better with what he had at his dispodal.

He also converted Paul Warhurst into prime Van Basten for about 4 months, then it all fell to pieces when he wanted him to play back in defense in the FA Cup final due to injury crisis at the back

RIP Trevor and thanks for the memories, you don't know what you've got until you've lost it.

I was at St Andrews with us for his last game for Brum. Think it was the final game of the season. Absolute fckin mayhem before during and after. I think it was only the pitch invasion at the end that saved us and we got back to the coach OK. I always thanked Trev for that and loved it when he turned up with us a few years later. Fantastic footballer and legend. RIP.

Would I be right in saying Trevor Francis and Rodri are the only two City players to score CL/European cup winning goals?

He was a wonderful player, that goal against Wolves! One of the very few world class players we had (pre-takeover).

I was just talking to another old blue about that game -didn't Wolves score a well worked free kick .

Anyway Rip,Trevor Thank you for the memories.
