I was in the South Stand watching this and it was pissing me off, can't imagine what people in that stand were thinking.

If you go to a game and expect people to sit, you're a **** (especially the singing section). Stay at home and watch it on telly if you wanna sit!

Tit!

Tit? what are you on about? He is right, it has been a 'singing' 'standing' section for years, if you want to get a ticket there and sit your a ****. But i think its the Stewards wanting people to sit, not fellow fans.
x2

This letter is also a myth... We never received ours, I've spoken with atleast 8-9 Sc holders around me in 109 who never received this letter.

The American is %100 correct, let's do something before a tragedy rather than doing something when someone dies... That old man today in 109 could of easily had a heart attack today and died. No shit.

We were happy watching the football, great spirits, nice atmosphere etc....

After ShowSec and GMP got involved man were fighting, kids were crying, women were concerned for their health and it was a shambles.
This was poor crowd control and only made matters worse.

We (blues) need to get behind Safe Standing and truly support this safe alternate to watching football in stadia.

It's brewing and It's only around the corner, ShowSec will pick on the wrong supporter one day and he/she will end up either doing something wild resulting in other fans going wild and larger scale rioting or someone with a serious medical condition (like today) struggles and ends up in a serious condition resulting in bad press not only for the club but for football supporters in general.

Let us stand, introduce safe standing, if people wish to seat they can in other areas of the stadium.
from the SS (119?) through to 109 introduce Safe Standing.

Seeing kids get hit, Rag Bullys working for ShowSec manhandling people who just want to watch football, women falling over and so on...... Safe Standing

Is there some way we as fans can be proactive about this? The general consensus is that the security firm in charge are not doing their jobs better. Is there some kind of complaints procedure we can all go through? Perhaps a petition we can e-mail/present to Fletcher?

Just something to communicate to the powers-that-be that there is a LOT of unhappy fans regarding this issue.

think they may have realised after today that they fucked up big time, it was very close to kicking off big time, if this had happened in the concourse it would have

I know, but if there is something put in writing then the club has an obligation to respond or at the very least acknowledge it.

Sounds like you have the perfect attitude for a rag/showsec bully who picks on folk who can't fight back.....or stand up for 90 minutes.
None of our Blue brothers and sisters needs to ask for your fucking approval to watch the game from THEIR SEAT if that's what they choose/need to do.

So if they don't want fans to stand during games in what the club stated as the standing section during season ticket renewls. why are the club having a singing section on tuesday? Surely fans will be standing up and signing for most of the match. So are the stewards going to try and get everyone to sit down if so what is the point of having the singing section?
And after today if the steward's try that heavy handed tactics again it is going to kick off big time

showsec got a slap today not just for what went on in 109 but for months of bullying, well done to all the city fans who stood up to them

Just posted this on City's official Facebook page. Lets see if it has any effect, (or indeed remains there for any length of time)!!!

I wonder whether Peter Fletcher (Stadium Security Manager) would like to come on here & take the opportunity explain to the vast majority of well behaved, paying City fans, why he continues to support the mercenary thugs from Showsec security, in their aggressive tactics against fans on a matchday.

Today, they once again decided to target a vulnerable old man, who was doing nothing that thousands of others weren't in Block 109 by standing. It is obvious that they target the weak & their idiotic behaviour today very nearly caused a major security incident.

Your security officials are meant to be there to create a safer matchday experience for everyone, not make it more dangerous. Mr Fletcher, either explain yourself to fans for a change, or ship out with Mr Tevez. Disgraceful!

From where i was in 101 we could see somethinghappening but obviously couldnt make out what had happened. The stewards are a bit to mouthy from what i have seen when i was in there for Reading game, somebody will get fucking hurt if they dont give a bit of leeway to fans standing.

The hate for Peter Fletcher on this forum is a joke.

I hope he reads this and serves us all a dose by forcing the entire ground to sit. Rather than allowing two specific sections to break FA rules.

Then perhaps you'll all realise the fuckwittery in these kind of threads.

(that's not addressing individual behaviour of stewards, if what is alleged to have happened its unacceptable and I expect he'll pay with his job)

G star, can't see u being too happy if he makes every one sit, don't u stand on ur seat in 111 week in week out?

I think so! Ha ha
