Trouble in the East Stand??

There's no law for standing!
And if it's persistant standing that's the problem then every 30mins sit down n then stand back up! Problem solved! Ha ha

Surely one fan who is stood up on the back row of the third tier should also be ejected for persistant standing ?

Yep. As the stewards would say: you are blocking the view of everyone around you (yes, even if you are on the last row!)...apparently, if the first few rows sit, the rest will sit cos 109 doesn't want to stand. Total bollocks.

I was in the South Stand watching this and it was pissing me off, can't imagine what people in that stand were thinking.

If you go to a game and expect people to sit, you're a **** (especially the singing section). Stay at home and watch it on telly if you wanna sit!

As someone who regularly stands when going away, I would say that you are a **** if you think that anyone who doesn't want to stand at home is a ****, just because you like standing.

There are plenty of people who don't fancy standing and I have seen a situation time and time again where wankers who hold the opinion "you are a **** if you don't want to stand" try to intimidate them and give it the big bollocks because some old bloke behind them doesn't want to or can't stand all match.

Fair enough, there are certain places that you expect it, near the away fans or at aways, and to go and expect to sit is naive. But it is a fucking joke to state that if you go to match and don't want to stand you are a ****.

From what I've seen, a lot of 'standers' get their little soldiers all excited and seem to think that standing makes them a man who "can't be told what to do." Pathetic stuff. And this is from someone who regularly stands and enjoys it.

The fact that this "you're a ****" attitude is so prevelant in certain blocks is why the club have got themselves into such a bizarre and uncomfortable situation, where they are bound to at least try to enforce "the rules".

Thank you JohnMaddocksAxe. I stand at away matches most of the time because everyone does and then the next day not only can I not walk but I have difficulty standing as well. However, I am not going to let that stop me going to the away matches as long as I can. BUT at home I pay for a season ticket to SIT at the matches and no way in this world will I stay at home and watch on TV.

I am getting heartily sick of some of the people who think that they are so big and butch because they intimidate other people to stand. They are as bad as the stewards and the Showsec people they accuse of bullying. 99% of our stewards are good, decent people trying to earn a bit extra and some of them get abuse for enforcing the rules and trying to help the people who want to sit. The 1% of stewards who allegedly cause the trouble have probably had more than they can take of the bullying and intimidation!

In my humble opinion!

The behaviour of the Showsec stewards has long been a total disgrace.

Violence will be met with violence.

I know if a group of burly degenerates got heavy handed with my elderly father I'd be planting haymakers on each and every one of them - ban or no ban.

It's brewing, and it's continuing to sour each week. If City don't address the behaviour of the staff they employ, then sooner or later there will be genuine outbreaks of violence. It's inevitable, and frankly I'd welcome it if it led to some of these thugs in uniform being on the receiving end for once.

My take on what happened today! I sit in 109 about 10 rows back from where this going on!!! you could'nt realy make out what happend to the old bloke as the fans lower down were twoing and frowing, but you could tell something was going to happen today! and the person that started all this was the showcase WOMEN with the auburn coloured hair with the head set on, all she was doing from the start was was shout and scream at other stewards to get off there arses and try to get the fans in 109 to sit down, she got the police and she started the whole fucking event, now the question should be asked who was giving fucking orders???? Fletcher???? from a safe place???? or was she just being a jobs worth???? this is a fucking joke and after todays events alot of ''Lads'' where talking in the pub afterwards about certain stewards that have been taking liberties for a while and lets just say ''watch this space'' espeally that fucker with the skin head who was laughing when a another lad got throughout on the concourse at half time! you brave fuckers want to try doing what you do in the ground away from OB and cameras and see how long you would last!!

No stewards were intimidated, insulted, abused prior to approaching that 60yo bloke today.

The steward on the stairs was provoked from what I saw, which is wrong and he's bound to throw a few to protect himself.

But I think others in this thread are referring to another steward who may have thrown a few punches without provocation. Maybe someone could elaborate on this as I only saw the steward on the stairs whilst the old guy was flat on his back at the bottom of the stairwell being attended to by first aid.

So you have obviously been and asked everyone in 109 whether they want to stand then have you?

the answer to this imo is to let those in 109 stand as this cant now be reversed, anyone in 109 who wishes to remain seated should be othered another seat in the ground, a letter should go out at the end of the season to all other blocks that currently do not stand advising them that they are in a sitting only block and if they persistantly stand they will be banned.

everyone will then know where they stand(or sit sorry for the pun) and will have a chance to try and relocate if they wish

showsec should be reminded that there job is customer service and they are not bouncers, if a fan is doing something they shouldnt and ignores a polite request to behave themselves their seasoncard should be cancelled for whatever time is deemed appropiate

There has been a survey actually, I can get you the exact results from the person who did it but I know the evidence was overwhelmingly in favour of standing, around 95%+.
