I think it is inevitable that it will blow, its just a matter of time.

I think the way the Japanese have handled this and are set up for disasters is very commendable, that said they are used to earthquakes, their structural design for Buildings is very good.

they have shock absorbers built into the steel structures of the high rise buildings i believe. very high spec for new buildings being built there.

A state of emergency has been declared at a second nuclear power plant in Japan, the International Atomic Energy Agency has said. "Japanese authorities have informed the IAEA that the first, or lowest, state of emergency at the Onagawa nuclear power plant has been reported by Tohoku Electric Power Company," a statement said, according to the AFP news agency. The alert was declared "as a consequence of radioactivity readings exceeding allowed levels in the area surrounding the plant". "Japanese authorities are investigating the source of radiation," it added.

Yeah, basically they are built on springs underneath the ground, so when the earth shakes the buildings wobble, but the energy is absorbed by the springs. I think the Japanese government's preparation for this has been fantastic, and they should be properly applauded by the rest of the world. Imagine if a commercial mecca like Tokyo went underwater/collapsed? All of us would feel the effects one way or another.
