Tunisia advice

Just come back form Turkey HV which was immense.
Been Tenerife HV which is fantastic
Booked Tunisia HV for August as HV are much the same and you know what your getting which is kids entertained and you getting a break

Thanks, like you say you know what your getting, have you got any concerns or you not really bothered.

I am a bundle of joy,i was trying to explain to someone who is trying to justify money over peace of mind

Based on what? You said you have no idea of the current situation, they had circa 8million visitors last year 80,000 of which were Brits, that's a pretty good recommendation I'd say.
Anyway, bit harsh talking about funerals of loved ones, probably pissed all over his chips, then again he did ask..

On the advice of the foreign office it looks fine? The main income is tourist base?

When did you last go asa?

Tried somewhere nice pal, but with a family of 4 in the holidays it's so expensive.

It was well before the shootings mate, I had told a mate to book Tenerife for Xmas, he booked Tunisia instead. It was horrendous , weather was good though.

If you just want to stay at the pool at the hotel, I am sure you will be ok. I travel and explore, and it was dodgy.

The world is a small place, and there are many countries to visit before I return to see the "King of Zeus" .

North African coast does have a great winter climate though.

Marrakech maybe?.

Also, its FULL of Russians. They must get big discounts going to Tunisia as they were everywhere. No issues for us, they were all quite nice where we stayed but very stereotypical (mullets, budgie smugglers, all the family smoking). Kids clubs were really good, but our daughter was too young at the time.

Just done a week in Morocco in May. Didn't get to Marrakech but flu to Agadir and spent 2 nights there. It's a nice enough resort, just a bit too commercialised for my liking. After 2 nights there we drove a couple of hours south to a small town called Mirleft. Hired an Airbnb apartment overlooking the sea and had a great holiday. Locals were very friendly, food was generally tasty and an interesting change. No fast food anywhere to be found, suited me. Weather was dodgy but it usually is in early May. I found Morocco to be a good place to holiday. I spoke to a few locals who said Marrakesh can be a bit dodgy. Oh, anyone thinking of hiring a car in Morocco drive very carefully and observe the speed limits. I got pulled twice by traffic cops with a mobile speed gun. The first one said I was doing 30 km over the limit but the last road sign I saw was 120km and I was told I was driving in a 80km zone. He said I was doing about 110 but I thought it was 120 km per hour. I was acting the dumb foreigner saying I didn't understand even though he was trying to fine me 80 quid which I understood perfectly. on inspecting my driving licence and insurance documents he the noticed Man City badge tatt on my calf and said "oh Man City I like them, very good team". He smiled and I smiled and then waved us on. Phew!

I have thought of Tunisia but I'm a bit reluctant to travel there having seen on the news what happened, and it was only 4 years ago. People say it's generally safe to go there nowadays, I suppose it is probably safer there now and I would like to visit Tunisia in the future.

Been to Turkey 4 times and some people say it isn't safe to go there. I would recommend it, but it's like anywhere in that if you could be part of a terrorist incident at any time nowadays sadly. It's sad the world has barriers but I try not to worry unduly and go on holiday abroad thinking all will be ok.

Sounds a great experience in Morocco.

Hope to ferry across, from Almeria this Winter. Been meaning to do it for a few years now.
I agree Turkey is much underrated, as most Countries get away from Tourist destinations for a real experience.

Did you stay at a holiday village mate?
We stayed in Sousse at a place called Oriental Palace Hotel, it was deemed 5 star a the time but in reality it was probably 4 star. Rooms were massive, loads to do for the kids and tbh it felt very safe inside the place. The neighboring hotel was closed down and seemed to have been for a while, it had its own private beach and the rest of it seemed to be used by locals but the security kept them out (and iirc it may have had a fence on some sort). If you can get one of those resort type hotels with everyone included for a good price then do it. They will have some tour guide come and ask you about going out for boat rides and shopping trips, i'd swerve all that. If you want to go, just sort it yourself like we did, get a taxi and they'll take you to the shopping place and bring you back but like i said, outside is a bit of a shit hole and not really like Turkey (which we have also been to).

Anybody visited recently, would you recommend a family holiday?

Been here myself.

Would recommend for a family holiday and it is right on the beach too, so you can spend time on the beach or the hotel. The port is very nice too and I would recommend a restaurant there called Restaurant Le Mediterranee, food and service is out of this world.
