Mind you, it wouldn't surprise me if events like this and 'modern history' were not taught at school. But still, you'd have to be living in a big hole not to know about it.A few months ago heard 2 youngsters discussing this. Said if this had been real it would have been awful

Bit of a generalisation.
I watched it well after it was relevant. The whole lot was out already, and the hype had died down. I also went into it with a mindset that it was probably going to be overrated.
And I thought it was great. I don't consider it the best or my favourite, and I have oftennsaid the groundbreaking claims, that ground had been broken before. But it is still great tv, and while there may be more hype than it deserves, 'the most overrated' is probably a bit of a stretch.
Rob, you won't know 3 episodes in. It is like judging a book 30 pages in. You may still geel that way half way in, fair enough, won't be alone. But if you end up enjoying it as it starts to click, then enjoy it and go with it.
We spoke about it a week ago but I think my issue was partly approaching it with the wrong mindset too.
I watched it a few years after it came out and it was at the top of its hype. Looking back at it, I did judge it against that rather than just on its own - I didn’t find any of it particularly groundbreaking or exemplary in its area (one or two episodes were though).
It wouldn’t be anywhere near a top ten for me but you’re right in that it’s still a very good show.

Well, for animation fans of the darker variety 'Invincible' has three episodes out today on Amazon (not sure about being on in the UK yet).
I'll be honest, I'd watched 90% of the first ep and I was thinking 'What's the fookin' hype with this show' as it was just like any other I've seen.
And then Boom! it drops the hammer!!
To say I was gobsmacked doesn't quite do it justice, so if you're looking for something a little different, this might be it.
On to the next two eps now...

I thought Breaking Bad was brilliant. Another show that didn't forget it was for entertainment so occasionally gave out some royal flights of fancy. Suffered one or two episodes due to writers strikes (there was one episode about a fly in a basement 'drug factory' for Christs sake).
However....series 5 for me was awful. Wheels well and truly came off. I remember watching it with the ex and both looking at each thinking if it was the same show. Looked the cast were given the reins. Kind of spoiled the experience for me.
BCS is good (slowly watching this one) but not wholly different from the spirit of BB.

Yea I agree, and I too don't consider it my top show, there are a few I prefer to it.
But I felt the extent of the metaphor a bit extreme thats all, and the praise isn't unwarranted.
To change the subject. One thing that the list has higlighted, is that very few seem to have watched Silicon Valley.
So here it is, I bloody love it, and I think it is great. If anyone is looking for new comedies.

I've watched it like 4 times through over the years, I think it is currently on Sky again. Was last month at least.
