Monster on Netflix.
Dark as fook

They've commissioned a third which will be about Ed Gein. The first about Dahmer was very good as well, although I found it a bit longwinded and slow when it got to the trial stage. There's an episode in this latest one on the Menendez brothers that was similar, but the acting is very good - Bardem is just a master and steals the show.

He should be .Dating grooming he's just a dirty old perv with a big chip on his shoulder because he's been caught out .People on tv are just playing a part he's no different cilla, barrymore, schofield I wouldn't worry they'll be someone along soon to take over his mantel as the housewife's favourite
You do know he didnt abuse kids or have a computer full of pictures etc? He is not a nonce and he would be in prison if he did and i am sure his wife would have divorced him years ago if she thought that , twitter is a complete cesspit , i bet nearly all of you didnt know who he was even, lol

I remember him from the broom cupboard.
I'll rephrase that...
I remember him being the straight man with Edd the duck.
I'll rephrase that...
Yes. He was a large part of my childhood.
I give up.

It's the way they word it that's hilarious :)

"The presenter had first met the younger man when he was 15."

I have watched him everyday on this morning for about twenty plus years , first with ferne and then with holly , he was so tight with holly , the two familes went on summer holidays together , i can see why she felt let down when he had been asked before by the itv bosses if there was anything going on and phil lied and said no , maybe he lied to her as well , that was the wrong thing to do , he was rightly sacked by this morning , it is being sacked from itv that he seems to be mad about

Anyway i will watch the third one tonite , what he says is interesting and he gets a point for having a dig at fatty holmes , he ranted a load of hatred at phil because he said phil got him and ruth fired from this morning , phil said that is not true , it was another member of the team , no doubt fatty will have another rant on gb news , how sad i am to know all of this , sad **** , lol

Loved it, but partner just found it "crazy and unbelievable" even though he knew it was a true case

I told him I remembered the case in 1989, and that truth is often stranger than fiction.
The fascination lies, even now, whether those 2 brothers got a fair hearing in the later trial that gave the decision it did

I really liked Schofield when he first broke through. Really liked him. Thought him a brilliant front person for many of the programmes he hosted, and still do.

However, he met a 15 year old boy who he then enabled to get a position on his show, years later, and then had a relationship with him whilst paying him a 6 figure sum to keep his mouth shut.

If that isn't indicative of "grooming" then I don't know what is

When he was 15 he approached phil to ask him if he could help him to get into telly , being who he is he got him a job on this morning as a runner, it is like a internship which lots of young people do , he was 17 i think . When he was 19 they had a short fling . Phil came out as gay and the man was moved to loose women . It is right he has not been named so the papers cant splash his name and picture everywhere and out him when maybe he is not out , only twitter say he was paid off

Much of the above detail was from itv questioned at the select committe

He wasnt groomed in the way you are suggesting it , you might as well come out an call him a paedo , he clearly is not that else he would be in prison , this is where people prefer a screaming headline and not the detail or context

Anyway , i enjoyed the three docos he has done , last night he said it wad not the affair that he was sacked for, it was explained to him that with his brother being a paedo and jailed that the stigma included him and there was too much bad press about phil being his brother etc

make of that what you will

Came here to post about the Menendez brothers thing...
Totally agree with your other half, unbelievable doesn't even come close.
I love true crime, but 3 episodes in, this is undoubtedly in the 3 worst things I've ever seen on TV. It's almost an unfunny comedy, utterly abysmal.

As I said, I enjoyed it. Particularly the performances of the two male leads.
I actually thought the bit about the psychiatrist and his mistress must have been exaggerated, but it's true. The whole case was mad.
Maybe they have done it in a way that isn't to everyone's taste, but I did find it gets better after the first few episodes.

I loved the first one about Dahmer, and this one certainly has a very different feel to it. Apparently they are doing one on Ed Gein next. It will certainly be interesting to see how they approach that one!

I get that you like him and enjoyed the show when he was on.
He is very good at presenting. Yet presenting is merely selling a "product" no matter how else it is dressed up.

I just found the whole very public"coming out" thing (with all the tears etc) as cringeworthy, and a desperate charade from a man who was crying for himself and his career just as much as his family.

I couldn't give a sod what his sexuality is, and no I don't think he is a peado. He met that 15 lad at the lad's drama school and was in a position of trust and power when they did become intimate some years later, but there was dialogue between the 2 for some years before that I believe.

With regards to the money here is a quote from the BBC;
"Lawyers for the star have confirmed he later helped pay his former lover's legal fees, as well as compensation for the loss of his job and home.

The arrangement came with a non-disclosure agreement for both sides."

Now how true that is I don't know, but it's certainly more than just a rumour off Twitter/X.

Anyway, I understand why you liked him. So did I once.
Yet that whole affair, and how he handled it (knowing there was more to come out), showed an ugly underbelly to what really was going on. In my opinion.

What a faff over fuck all. This isnt controversial I hope and isnt meant to be, but gay people dont necessarily meet in conventional ways because they are a minority and it comes with some confusion and awkwardness especially when first coming out and what this stuff is is normal I think. No gay couple met without some drama attached and someone being upset by it I wouldnt have thought. Im resisting the expression fishing in a smaller pond but for want of a better one it will do. I dare say an age gap is common, and awkward encounters common too. Each to their own, who cares. His wife didnt by the sounds and nothing illegal done and let everyone live. If he shagged a 50 yr old woman nobody would have cared, shit happens in marriage as you get along the road and most marriages are the same dont care what anyone says it does. If the worst thing that happened was Holly Wotsit off the telly took the hump then who fucking cares? She will probably get pissed up and jump on a spare cock during the course of her marriage too, it happens. Load of nonsense. And it was homophobic too truth be told

They can all do whatever the hell they want, as far as I'm concerned. Just don't befriend kids and keep in contact with them for years, get them a job and then shag them. If that doesn't strike you as a bit creepy then fair enough.
