TV Series

What a faff over fuck all. This isnt controversial I hope and isnt meant to be, but gay people dont necessarily meet in conventional ways because they are a minority and it comes with some confusion and awkwardness especially when first coming out and what this stuff is is normal I think. No gay couple met without some drama attached and someone being upset by it I wouldnt have thought. Im resisting the expression fishing in a smaller pond but for want of a better one it will do. I dare say an age gap is common, and awkward encounters common too. Each to their own, who cares. His wife didnt by the sounds and nothing illegal done and let everyone live. If he shagged a 50 yr old woman nobody would have cared, shit happens in marriage as you get along the road and most marriages are the same dont care what anyone says it does. If the worst thing that happened was Holly Wotsit off the telly took the hump then who fucking cares? She will probably get pissed up and jump on a spare cock during the course of her marriage too, it happens. Load of nonsense. And it was homophobic too truth be told
They can all do whatever the hell they want, as far as I'm concerned. Just don't befriend kids and keep in contact with them for years, get them a job and then shag them. If that doesn't strike you as a bit creepy then fair enough.

Doesnt sound like thats what happened really. Not by design like. Is it weird? Yes to us. Like I said, to a smaller community probably no. And by that I mean the gay community and especially those who work in making telly. Its always been an industry that, again struggling to find the words without offending those who shouldnt be offended for being themselves, are different to most.

Can certainly agree with some of that.
I think it's a very odd and artificial world, one where if you are very successful for a long time it can be easy to believe you are almost untouchable.

They arent untouchable though, they are accountable and do het held to account. The rights and wrongs get debated but the facts get lost in it

I don't think the facts in this case were ever really disputed were they?
And I think Schofield tried to manipulate his audience, and I didn't buy it. Maybe that's the nature of the industry though. And I'm definitely a cynic these days.

Also, my reaction to this particular story is probably because of the work that I do; helping 18-24 year olds into work. That often means either their first paid job or in an unpaid work experience placement that hopefully leads to a paid job offer.
I equate what happened in this case to a 19 year old going off on work experience and getting shagged by the 60 year old CEO of the company. Two consenting adults perhaps, but the dynamics in such a disparity of power leaves me very uncomfortable.

What thread is this?
Sorry. Got a bit sidetracked.
Anyway, I did read they were planning on a TV series about the whole Schofield incident etc so maybe we will be talking about it again at some point ;-)
Not heard anything about it recently though.

“Get pissed up and jump on a spare cock”.

I know others have recommended it before, but Slow Horses really is a terrific tv show. It's well made, it's well written, funny & serious at the same time. Gary Oldman is absolutely fantastic, a character for the tv ages in my opinion and sadly wasted on the lesser watched apple tv.
Might take a look, cheers.

Anyone else think the latest series of Slow Horses is, well, a bit shit?

Always found it a bit odd tbh. Any scene with Oldman or Scott Thomas in it is great, the rest can descend into soap opera levels of bad, both the acting and the writing. Think that’s been the same every season though.
