TV Series

We've had some hints as to the outcome I think, but nothing has really crystallised yet. My concern with any series like this is that because of its success its drawn out to the stage it meanders about so much it eventually disappears up its own arse. Prime example being Lost.
100%, couldn’t agree more. That dilution due to success/financial imperative, is the biggest single issue with tv series I think.

I know it's obvious, but I find this and the film thread really interesting.

I, often, think what drives someone to think something was great, whilst another says it was poor.

Sometimes I want to know what, in particular, made a show good or poor for people and I can come from a perspective that takes that opinion into consideration.

I look for good writing, logic (if it's drama), pacing, consistency and good acting delivery in both TV and film.
Agree with all of that in your last sentence. I suppose if I had to boil it down to one thing, for me it’s if I care enough about the characters enough. If there are none of them I really care about, I struggle. It’s the reason I never got beyond S3 of Breaking Bad for example.

But what makes each viewer care or not, that’s another level of complexity and can be hard to explain, so I can see why you’d find some of the posts frustrating where people say it was great/poor etc.

I’ve been watching ‘Fool Me Once’ with the lovely Michelle Keegan.

If you’ve seen any of the previous series that Netflix have adapted from Harlan Coben’s mystery novels, you’ll know exactly what you’re getting.

Never going to be in anyone’s all time top 10s but harmless enough fun for me.

One thing that just dawned on me after about 50 years though, is how shit an actress Joanna Lumley has always been.

Stumbled onto the Count of Monte Cristo. The story line is great, very much in keeping with the book. Acting was fine and the pace good.

If you want a revenge adventure set in the 1800s then give it a go.

Re Severance, I think the final episode of the series will answer a lot of questions but not all.

I think it’s so clever and involving that it’s worth keeping going for at least another series so I’m sure they’ll keep us on the hook by satisfying most of our questions but leaving us wanting answers, or more depth on others.

I only got to maybe series 2 of Lost before I gave up many years ago. Severance is on such a different level to Lost the only way it can disappoint is if it goes completely bonkers and silly. And yes, I’m fully aware that the story and concept is totally out there but the cinematography of some episodes and the tension building storylines have really got me all in.

Banshee
A pseudo police drama along the lines of The Shield
A lot of violence.
An unbelievable (but not over-the-top so) plot

I like Banshee and if you liked "The Shield" I think you'll like Banshee too.
7.5/10
One of the best series I've watched, binged it in 2 days...all action, not drawn out to boredom like many ;)

Personally, the last two posts are what I'm looking for. Not a breakdown of the story, but how things are coming across on screen and then I can decide whether it's a good fit for what might engage me.

I know it's different for everyone, but I find the above useful analysis.
For me it’s either great or shit…….no explanation given :-)

Watched it for her. Couldn’t get past first episode as it was bobbins but I had a nice wank to it.

In previous series I’ve really enjoyed The Bay. Found this series very very bland and just felt like a rinse and repeat of the previous ones. Given up after 2 episodes.

It was that formulaic I thought I'd seen it before

I don't think I can remember a time when there was so little new and quality to watch. I have binned off Nextflix and Now for the foreseeable future. Honestly, YouTube has more engaging stuff on than mainstream TV.
I agree, got premium now, including YouTube music.

The Ruth Ellis story.
Thought it was good and very interesting if you've never delved into her life/death
