TV Series

Watched that Adolescence - didn't really think it was that good - 6/10
You're right, it wasn't! They tried the 'connecting it to real life issues' card.....but it didn't 'highlight' anything, or mean anything. Also, I'm not a fan of Stephen Graham at all....mostly plays the same 'character' in everything he's been in, very limited actor.

Just felt like it was missing something. The last episode could have been 15 minutes long but felt like a recap of the first 3 eps. One lad in it got arrested and then just disappeared from it altogether...bit of a mess really.

Yeah, exactly.

And, for me, there was a lot of confirmation bias going on with no real examination of the preceding triggers and how they got there.

The frustrating thing for me, was feeling like I switched on the TV at the halfway point of watching dominos fall instead of knowing who started it. Lots of posters on here believe they know the starting point.

What they showed on that show is not the starting point of the current issues for young people.

Watched Pluribus over Christmas.

Really enjoyed it. A lot more to come from this as well.
It's going to be multiple seasons, so season 1 is basically explaining the rules, setting the scene, and introducing you to this new world order.

Action-wise, not much happens in each episode. It’s very slow-paced.
But because it’s so original, the story is captivating and you just keep going.

Don’t think it will be for everyone, but if you buy into it, it might end up on a lot of people’s all-time top 10s eventually.

Yeah, my partner thought it too slow and "nothing happens!!!" whilst that, for me, was part of its charm. The female lead is fantastic.

So, I have a question mac, cos I was thinking about this, the other day...

If you've ever watched the "Wonder Woman" film, 'Steve Trevor' dies of old age, yet is resurrected in possession of another Human body who, technically, is still alive and he and 'WW' end up having sex for the first time.

Now, you'll know what I'm talking about if you're up to date, but I'm wondering why there's not the furore over this 'permission' basis in this show compared to the "WW" film?!

I haven't seen WW or know of the furore but I think I get your jist. To be honest, it didn't bother me as such because (whilst trying not to give too much away for anyone that hasn't seen Pluribus) I found one character to be the manipulator and it wasn't a shock that it happened. It was always going to go there.
However, yes with hindsight it's a bit creepy now that you put it like that. Yet isn't that what gives Pluribus its edge and makes it more than just the usual?

Got to be honest, I really am struggling with it. Three episodes in and it’s just a bit shit (for me). Very slow as you say but will try and stick with it as this kind of idea I thought I’d love.

Mm.

I'm just... I don't know if I'm overthinking it, but bad writing really bothers me cos if you open the door to a situation, you have to be able to close it confidently. I'm not sure the writers have thought things through with the moral consequences (Mr. Diabaté's actions in the same way kind of started off the questions for me) as there are lots of knock-on effects from such things.

I hope I can put the Genie back in the bottle for the second series!
