Two journalists have been shot dead during a live TV report

With a nation of 330 million with access to guns , you will always have these incidents , changing the constitution won't help because the guns are already in circulation and those with them wouldn't give them up easily

I think the compromise is allowing weapons with less capacity to take multiple lives in a single action.

Guns, like a Walther PPK and no more, would still be 'bearing arms', but reducing the potential for huge disasters we, currently, see.

Or they could just fucking grow up and realise that they don't need to own guns. The "right to bear arms" dates back nearly 225 years and comes from a period in time when the USA didn't really have organised military and needed their citizens to be able to rise up and defend the union against attack, ostensibly from people like the British!

I know that. You know that.

But the American Gun Lobby have used that passage to get into the brains of many, that it's about freedom.

The only way for these people to have their 'freedom' is to limit what damage they can do with it! Thankfully, the stupid out-of-date amendment didn't state about having high calibre weaponry as a 'right', so the gov can do what it likes about that.

The other choice is to go full Oz on their ass and ban guns altogether.

That was their response to their mass shooting incident.

They fooked off that 'law'!

The reason it was included is no longer relevant. Unless of course Her Maj decides to revoke your independence and claim back the colonies.

Yet it is still there, in all its glory, and not under any real threat. Perhaps there is more to it than your understanding of what each word means to you?

Only in America can you get ur hummus and assault rifles in the same shopping basket, it is a very alien place for most Brits.

Prone to hyperbole much? Alien place to Brits? You wouldn't think so when you see all the Brits here, either on their hols or have found a way to stay and enjoy ALL the freedoms this country has to offer. Modern Britain could use a First Amendment right about now, and while there is no Second Amendment there seems to be an increasingly level of gun crime in no-gun Britain.
