Txiki Begiristain

Who actually gives a shit about finances now?

It's not the FFP era anymore.

It's the era of £30m+ bids for Sissoko and Bolasie. £90m bids for a midfielder who scored 8 goals last season and £50m bids for Stones.

TBF Stones has looked class, the other are sh*t and Pogba is vastly overrated, he drifts in and out of games, does a few eye catching things and people decide to ignore his shortcomings because of the eyecatching stuff!!

I think with Pep here now, we won't be wasting money on panic buys like Mangala or Bony, no disrespect to them, Mangala has had some games for us but no idea what happened with Bony he's a far better player that he's shown at City but still not the level or type Pep is looking for ...

At the end of the day the manager is still the most important factor when recruiting players. We missed out on the likes of Hazard and Sanchez, not because of Txiki, because I can guarantee we would have secured them if pep was our manager. We didn't sign the likes of Jesus and Gundogan because of Txiki, it was because of Pep. But then Txiki was the most important factor in signing pep... What does all this mean, who knows?!

I do think he's been pretty poor in getting deals for players we are selling though!
Would love to know how you personally guarantee signings of players if pep was in charge

Money is in $ but it points out that United Chelsea and Arsenal also didn't get much back in terms of outgoings. United specifically didn't have many outgoings at all in terms of loans/permanent deals period. They may have added those 4 players but they couldn't shift Fellaini,Bastian,Jones,Young,Rojo and maybe even Depay.

When you look at other top clubs around Europe, they had to sell players they didn't want to in addition to the fine windows they had.

Juve: Pogba
Dortmund: Gündogan, mkhitaryan, Hummels
Roma: Pjanic, Ljajic
Napoli: Higuain

In the short term Txiki did very well shifting 5 main players out on loan like that. Long term, them playing regularly and hopefully doing well elsewhere will see them make permanent moves so we can get more money back.

Some highlight Bony/Mangala as marks against Txiki but Pelle really wanted Bony so why wouldn't our DOF go out and get the player a manager wanted? Just once he got him he didn't quite fit in our team and that falls on both Pelle/Bony.. Not Txiki. Mangala is a lesson learned and we should steer clear of any player from Porto.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the window and the direction the club is headed.

Premier League clubs now have so much money it is literally falling out of their arse holes.

So we didn't get a combined total of £40m for Bony, Nasri, Hart and Mangala. I really don't give a toss and I doubt the club do either since they were happy to spend £27m on a teenager that we won't even see until next year.

The most important thing to do was get out signings done, which we did, and to get rid of the undesirables by hook or by crook, which we did.

nail on head there mate. got loan fees for a couple and even if we are paying some wages for hart, nasri and mangala we are still saving money!! stoke paid us £2m loan fee and are covering all of bony`s wages so all in all the books will still look better! would have hated us to be fucking around at 10 or 11pm last night buying people for the sake of it.

I agree, its been a great window when you think we have also future proofed the squad with young hungry players.
